Well there goes another game I was hoping to get into again once it was more polished (and I had more free time).
Not too surprising though, ever since they blamed their lack of progress on a massive theft of their physical computers a few years ago it seemed like something was up with the devs, though they apparently held out okay until now.
Man why does the zombie genre attract so many grifters and autistic bullshit devs that just make a survivalist/squadfps/rpg /steampunk rts with zombies sprinkled in.

Listen, I'm not a coder, I don't wear programming socks, I'm not familiar with C+ or Rust or any of that.
But I saw a dude on the workshop bang out an NPC mod in less than a month AND fix glaring optimization issues the devs STILL haven't fixed.

You wanna know? Brutally? Because it's easy and it makes at lot of money. And its very easy to get over your head.
I was on the ground floor of project zomboid. I was there when you were a bald dude trying to save your wife. I've got a few hundred hours in it. Half of which was playing the game at the start and the rest later with friends.
The truth is, 99% of the combat loop was accomplished for all of these games within the half-life of a single red bull and the rest was hallucinated by the players.Basic Zombies are pathetically simple. There is a reason there is no special infected in zomboid, because the AI does not support it. Left for Dead's runs absolute circles around it. Hell, Skyrim's wolf AI runs absolute circles around it.
So the dev sits down, makes a decent concept, makes the game, and then goes to add the next bit and.... well in Zomboid's case... the second the player leaves the area everything went to hell if the AI tried to continue. Alright we need to load... both areas? Dynamically? And of course there's multiple AI. Suddenly things get complicated. And progress slows to to a crawl. NPC mods utilizing the old code are a few bad NPC placements away from bricking everything.
But for some reason, because this guy got enemies to walk at you and hit you, we think the only think stopping him is laziness.

Personally, I believe that Pedda Pipkin is a pedo because a) she's a V-tuber, and b) literally the first link I followed in the thread led to her sick sexualized artwork of underage MLP/Pokemon (?) characters. There's dozens of others where that came from and I doubt they get any better.

Game devs are some of the laziest motherfuckers I've ever met. I know how to code and they aren't too busy, and it's not too complicated.
The one early access game I ever bought hasn't been updated in over a year and yet the dev has put over a thousand hours into TF2 since then.
