It's also really fucking petty to add the Star Wars Theory clip on there too. Bitch ass move.
It does serve for some extra added humor.

These are the people mocking others for caring about lore:

And here are the nerds who care deeply about Star Wars lore:

Like I don't give a shit about Star Trek (or Star Wars at this point) but I have no problem just admitting I don't care. I don't need to feign moral superiority by bring up starving Africans.

Having hobbies =/= not caring about others and the world around them. Anyone who makes this sort of argument knows they have no argument to stand on. It's incredibly lazy, dishonest, and self-congratulatory, and anyone who does it deserves to be mocked. I don't care how long I've been an RLM fan, they deserve heat for this.

In fact, a lot of this "culture war" shit started because people are so hyper aware of the difficult world around them, and lots of people are just asking for a break from those things once in a while by escaping with a good story (and not one that pontificates at them).

Also, hasn't Star Wars Theory made some fan movies that have been met with praise from Star Wars fans, too? He appears to be a better film maker than the dudes at RLM, too ...

but he and Dean Devlin did not suck in the 90s when they actually did make crowd-pleasing movies. Original ID4 is the most USA! USA! USA! movie I've ever seen. Why? Because it handled its theme of David v. Goliath story perfectly.
Speaking of which, doesn't Mike dislike that as well? I can understand disliking his recent films but it seems kind of pretentious to hate on that movie.

In my opinion Rlm are not good at analyzing why something is bad or good. They are just great at talking about good or bad movies

Never really seemed like they knew how to compare and contrast properly. X is great and Y Is bad. Ok but what makes x great and Y bad? Uh well wikipedia says this director sucks or some shit.

I dunno, it just seems like the cinima snob gives better production analysis.

Hell even beard fat gives better insight sometimes. That's not really what you tune in for, however. I just want some laughs.

Oh yeah, basically said ID4 is a dumb movie that only dumb people like. Which it isn't in a plot sense; it just does what it needs to do as efficiently as possible. Even how the virus works was explained since Doctor Okum said that the Information Age got kicked off by backwards-engineering the alien ship they found at Roswell. The characters are basic, but that's fine in a plot-driven story.
Anyone think The Drinker, Star Wars Theory, and MauLer are going to do a livestream to address this video? I wouldn't be shocked if they did.

I mean, don't start shit if you don't expect a reaction.
Theory probably will, if only to provide context as to why he's in the video. I guess MauLer will restart Star Grift just for it to happen.

god are we still on the fucking star wars shit? haven't we had multiple reviews already where the main takeaway was "yeah, this is just a soulless corpo vessel for the media clickbait machine that you are perpetuating by acknowledging"? does mike need the star wars youtube click bucks that fuckin bad that he needs to drag rich on camera and juice him like an orange on this shit that he doesn't even want to talk about? entirely unnecessary video. i didn't watch the segment about the actual show because who fucking cares, and if i was smarter i would've applied that sentiment to the first 50 minutes as well. it's already plainly obvious that anyone who still engages with that shit is beyond salvation

I didn't watch ID4 when it first came out ... Which is kind of a shame, because I was the perfect age for that movie when it came out (I was more about the Men In Black hype back in the day, though). I didn't see ID4 for the first time until I was much older. I think I finally saw it in 2009 or 2010-ish?

The movie is fun, but it's not a favorite of mine or anything. However, it's my husband's all-time favorite popcorn movie, and I have fun when I watch it with him because it makes him so genuinely happy and giddy, haha. I can see why people love it though, especially if they saw it when they were kids. I know a lot of fellow millennials who view ID4 as a comfort movie, and, yeah, I get it. I can understand not loving ID4, but I don't think the movie warrants hate or anger. It's just a fun little alien invasion movie with some charismatic actors in it.

I do remember some movie snobs in the 90s dunking on it when it came out though. Critics did NOT like it back in the day. Perhaps that's where Mike's mindset is with it. Meh.

That said, ID4 is practically Citizen fucking Kane compared to the kind of slop we see getting released today for the most part.

Mike is into it for the gay culture war. Buckle up.
Mike missed the mark entirely about something as I was skipping around. He said that people (right wingers?) would trash an amazing show because of diversity, like how the left would defend a shitty show because of diversity. Big yikes. I don't know a single conservative who has seen Cobra Kai (a show with lots of diversity) and has hated it, for starters. Don't lots of conservatives love Yellowstone as well, as they sing the praises of Beth (who is a "strong female character" and "girlboss")?

A bitter pill for many is Red Letter
Media always been Channel Awesome that Reddit gives a free pass. Most of the cast are lulzcows. Especially Mike. Doug Walker has a better grip on why Star Wars fans do not like Disney crap. But Mike was just bitter because he didn't see any mainstream success as a filmmaker.(At most handful of smiling friends cameos) Something Doug Walker and Jame Rolfe did briefly.

Star Wars Theory is not even friends with critical drinkers. Or like him, as far as I know. Star Wars Theory has a long history of defending Disney Star Wars until the acolyte. Then wookiepedia faggots ended up sending him death threats and dox attempts. Mike can fuck off with any moral high ground after that. If red letter media are interested in starting a culture war fights to defend Disney. They deserve to have a r/cineamasscre truth, like the community mocking and mocking them. Especially all the shit we know about Mike's pre-YouTube days.

Doug Walker just keeps winning. lol. As more time passes, he just keeps winning. In my opinion, he actually managed to do the impossible in recent years: to be no longer considered a lolcow.

RLM has been given a pass for this long because (a) they were funny, and (b) a lot of their private lives were kept hush hush. I've taken notice that they aren't quite as funny as they used to regularly be, and now they appear to be picking fights with other people online with this new video.

Star Wars Theory has done more than one livestream with MauLer at this point. I haven't watched most of them, but I do know that the first stream he did with MauLer was when they actually weren't on friendly terms, but they ended up being super respectful to each other, found common ground, and now seem to be pretty friendly with each other. I wouldn't be shocked if Star Wars Theory was fine doing a stream with The Drinker as well, regardless of how he feels about him.

EDIT: I just did a quick search and found out that Star Wars Theory has, in fact, already done livestreams with The Drinker on the "Open Bar" show. So now I'm almost expecting to hear from these cats about the RLM video.

Mike doesn't care about Star Wars, and Rich doesn't either.
There's no reason to make this video except for the boomerism.

I mean

the video is incercut with clips of

1) darth vader and the emperor going to a beach sunbathing as legos
2) darth vader and boba fett dancing at some star wars theme park attractions

i get the impression their stance is star wars died and became a corporate product a long time ago so why is this the thing people are up in arms about?

Because we've all seen it before, and already agree. They didn't even torture themselves with the full show they spent the tail end of the video talking about. Leave Star Wars to the new crop of spergs on youtube.

Edit: I was under the impression this was an old show that already completed it's run, but my point stands.

I would rather be forced to watch one of those hours-long Youtube "video essayist" videos about some show or another, strapped down to a chair with my eyes forced open ala the Ludovico Technique than watch this video willingly.

The difference is old corporate slop was meant to make money and did so more often than not. Disney Renaissance movies are the best example. DEI corporate slop doesn't even make money; it sucks up money, insults its audience it markets to, and then makes bad movies on top of it. Ghostbuster 2016 is the best example of DEI corporate slop.

Cinema snob started my love for Godfey Ho ninja movies and low-budget Italian knockoff movies. Cinema Snob is one of the few people from channel Awesome that avoid ending up a lulzcow. But his first wife with big tits was a lulzcow who got raped by Jewwario and cheated on Brad Jones by grooming an underage girl on World of Warcraft.

Doug Walker just keeps winning. lol. As more time passes, he just keeps winning.
Both Doug Walker and Brad Jones aren't even conservatives, yet they both do a good job not chasing away audiences. At most, make fun of both sides.(political jokes on Nostalgia Critic mostly done because Rob Walker wanted to get into Lindsay Ellis pants.) Mike was hellbent on driving away Red Letter Media viewership. RLM is trying to become a breadtuber channel by trying to start political drama fights with other YouTube channels.
