I think a swap to Clinton is the worst play. Any illusion that the DNC isn't a rotating cast of establishment old-money geriatrics will be broken as soon as they trot her out.
This is pretty unprecedented (at least within the last good chunk of decades). I can't think of a worst spot for the party to be in. Most of the Dems in office feel they need to tow the line and act like everyone didn't see the clearest possible display of Biden being a withering and senile man. They're praying, silently, that he steps down. If he doesn't: their down-ticket spots will be annihilated.
They need to have literally anyone-else run. They dragged RFK through the mud, so I doubt they'll bring him into the fold. Newsom is despised, and is the nephew to Pelosi (making the "nepo baby" argument easy to make), and everyone else is a literally-who at this point. I think even they know that the optics of shoehorning Clinton or Michelle would be terrible.
They need Biden out, and quick. If he refuses, I think the party will get him out of their way.

The Heritage Oversight project has set their sights on three contentious swing states where they believe taking Biden off the Democratic ticket would not allow anyone else to replace him: Georgia, Nevada and Wisconsin.

Wisconsin does not allow withdrawal from the ballot for any reason besides death.

In Nevada, no changes can be made to the ballot after 5 p.m. on the fourth Friday in June of an election year or 'a nominee dies or is adjudicated insane or mentally incompetent.'

If Biden were to withdraw less than 60 days before the election Georgia his name will remain on the ballot but no votes will be counted.

In Texas, the two party's nominees have until the 74th day before the election to withdraw from the ballot. Some states, like South Carolina, do not allow candidates to withdraw for political reasons.

I've been saying this will happen for the past 4 years and everyone calls me nuts. Biden will win, the rigging will be extremely blatant. They'll grease Roberts' ass hole and he'll toss any suit just like he did 4 years ago for standing and latches, again, just to spit in your face. TPTB will finally call the Meal Team 6 Bluff because they can't lose that fight, and will end freedom in America forever. They want totalitarianism across the planet. If they call that bluff, and the people do nothing, they win.

Her bunker mentality came from the fact that Jill stonewalled her and she didn't have the influence she expected, replacing Biden as the nominee would be a dream come true for her.
