if you're talking about how should a kiwi tf2 server should be hosted, it's best to go simple with it and stick to vanilla, the only thing to set up i'd say are
  1. a method to nominate and rtv maps, if you know how konata.tf plays, you know that it's incredibly cancer to skip dogshit maps, and by the time it's done, the entire server has most likely fucked off to nevermore, and if there's fears of a trannytopia situation find a way to increase the cooldown on the map choice.
  2. a basic cheat tool and anti-ddossing to prevent exceptional shitting, past that it's better to have a free-for-all on what's said on chat, the main appeal of the server should be the freedom of speech part of it.
  3. sv_pure 0 or a super lax sv_pure 1, easy to guess why
  4. more of a personal opinion, i'd say to keep random crits on and keep random spread off so non-panic attack shotguns don't behave like blunderbusses, past this, better to leave it as vanilla as humanly possible, no class limits, no friendly fire, no rebalances, no custom weapons, nada of such.
the biggest issue instead is to manage what servers to pick, since i'd be inclined to believe that there's euros, americans and even asians that see both of these threads.
A TF2 server related to the farms needs a way to stop the trannies from fucking with the server from the networking side at the top of that list. Valve's SDR solves it partially, as it's a kind of VPN. Clients don't know the server's actual IP address, they also shouldn't have any way to determine other clients' IP addresses this way. Servers launched with the -enablefakeip flag will get a fake IP to advertise. You can even host a server from your own computer this way, no fuckery with ports blocked by the ISP and a degree of anonymity.

I'm not sure if starting a server this way means clients can only join via SDR. If they can join via your raw IP, you'd need additionally paranoid firewall settings to mitigate this.

true, you reminded me about who loves to shit on kiwis, which makes me wonder about the privacy part of this, this will be a public server, which means that if a kiwi hosts it, he will need to advertise it to the site and outside of it, wouldn't it mean painting a target on his steam account or something?
or if the owner is safe then what about that other kiwis that may join and possibly get some spastic connect the dots (not necessarily via ip i mean) and have a free dox on their steam account?
i really have no actual experience on handling servers, and i got even less knowledge to prevent an opsec disaster, so i'm wondering what could be done to prevent this.

You'll need to trust the server host regardless, no way around this. Play on a throwaway account.

So...
Is anyone here really under the illusion that the ban wave is anything but a one time deal? You mean to tell me they let the game sit like that for nearly a decade, and now they suddenly care? Lmfao

This is entirely to placate the autists and make them shut the fuck up until it inevitably happens again (treadmill work and all that). Anyone washing Valves balls for doing the bare minimum as the dev and host of a large multiplayer game, nearly a fucking decade after the fact, really needs to get Gaben's dick out of their mouth.

According to Zesty Jesus it's some kind of system they were implementing for the past 2 years. When asked for proof he just said to trust him on it, so I wouldnt take it too seriously. To me it just looks like a manual banwave for PR because people are starting to agree with boycotting summer update mtx.

A kiwiserver should have a variety of gamemodes and maps while the core gameplay should stay vanilla. Mix CTF and payload with more niche stuff like Medieval and Territory Control (Hydro my beloved). Add some good community maps too. Stuff like rd_asteroids or pl_morrigan would be fun to play.

Cactus Canyon & MarioKart plz, nobody plays Mario Kart anymore

He had decades to drop weight and suddenly does so when Ozempic takes off. Curious, huh? A billionaire who can hire a full-time chef and trainer, but needs a diabetes med with unknown consequences to drop it. Did he use it? Who cares, he might as well given how long it took him. God I hate these fucking niggers draining the diabetes market of a miracle drug cause uhhhh I can't stop eating!

I think why people cling to TF2 is cause of this experience. There are no dedicated servers, no communities, no casual hangouts, no "you need to be clocked in to be part of the community, but don't need to tryhard, die, wait for the next round" etc. You could be 1:1 in TF2 and do well, yet also achieve 19:1.

I’m sorry but server browser’s especially nowadays doesn’t suddenly stop tryhards. Compare early days of tf2 to now. Everyone sweats even when they don’t know it because their ingrained skill from playing for a decade is there.

The server argument falls apart in modern day gaming because even in other games with server browsers people on average are better gamers now.

Like I always see the server browser argument but look at Counter Strike it has the most players out of any video game right now and what happened? Those millions prefer match making at the end of the day. Now we can mention that valve has done a lot to screw over counter strikes browser but even before CS2 the server browser situation in CSGO was dire for years. When you brought it up you would get the typical replies

>Ohhhh browser is not real CS

>5v5 is true counter strike dude watch the pros shitter

Compare how Counter Strike is talked on 4chan to TF2 for instance, every major counter strike general/thread rarely talks about the game for some odd fucking reason esports was the biggest talking point in CS threads on 4chan. No one ever wanted to make a 4chan server or do funny game nights it was PURE Esports. It felt so odd seeing that on 4chan...

This is just me, but I think the KiwiServer should have a password to prevent troons and other TF2 spergs from invading it.
wouldn't go that far, and it'd be a logistical nightmare, unless you'd want to get draconian on how it's shared + on who joins, means it's up to luck if the password doesn't get leaked to shitters/trannies
