I'm surprised nobody has posted about this, but an Indian student got deported from the US after he decided to boast about faking literally everything about his University portfolio, even going as far as faking the death of his father, on Reddit (the thread doesn't include his post), he wouldn't have gotten caught if not for a moderator of the subreddit contacted the university about it. His post is only archived in screenshot form

He forged the transcripts, rec letters, achievements, and state exam results, and sent them through a school domain he bought to apply to college he was granted nearly a full scholarship at a top college but decided it wasn't enough, so he also forged his own father's death certificate and was promptly given a full ride with flights included

He had literally none of the knowledge required to even graduate high school, so at college, he went on to cheat on all exams using the Internet and then forged a resume with fake work experience to get an internship at an insurance firm

I saw an Instagram post sharing this same story and everyone in the comments and OP was like "fucking fat no-life Reddit mods at it again ruining someone's life, SMH!" but I mean... Lying is this much is kind've a bad thing, y'know? Then again Instagram does have a lot of pajeets and most of them did look like pajeets so eh.

While arguably modern society can be closer to Brave New World than 1984, dissenters in Huxley's book were treated rather mildly and only got exiled. I'd say modern dystopia is mostly aiming for 'Brave New World' settting for the general populace and for '1984' against wrongthinkers.
