Mega Rad Gun Thread

I'ma bet it's actually an abandoned missile silo in Nebraska. It's already built secure with lots of flat and open land. Null will be on the lower levels of the Kiwi Silo watching his automated turrets' ammo count go down like in Aliens. As he hears the banging at the outer door grow quiet he relaxes his grip on his ultimate weapon: An official Flynnlock General loaded with 55 grain FMJ.

Yes, basically. I'm saving up for as much cheap worthless land I can get in some state with lots and lots of it and planting down a cheap building with sand in the walls and a starlink on top.
I got just the place: Northen Arizona specifically around the Snowflake-Show Low area, it's mormon country and they hate *them* as much as the next person plus there's not of old families that live up there and they do what they did in the south which is keep things "insular", lax gun laws you can get silencers no problem and the nearest shooting range is your back yard so long as you don't hit your neighbor, lots of cheap land to build on and the roads to some of these places are so out there they're not on google maps and it's all wide open so you could see vehicles coming miles away. As for power and water that's when it gets tricky you'd probably need to get a solar array and a resevoir tank but the good thing is the government will give you subsidies to maintain your solar setup.

help me larp too! i'm gonna go look at silencers next week since surely there will be deals for the 4th. i'd like to get one for a 9mm in the range of 6-8 hundred dollars that i could fit on threads or a trilug. what would be babby's first choice?

Can someone find me a video of 308 vs L4s on a real ballistic dummy with internals?
Speaking of 308, help me trick out my stock AR-10. No idea which direction I want to take it to make it weirdly specialized

To answer the question though, really depends on the ammo and how many shots. Iirc L4 doesn't hold up as well with taking multiple shots like steel pl8s (don't quote me in that). Iirc it's like bullet proof glass in how deforming to catch the bullet eventually will cause failure after enough shots. Steel will cause the bullet to shatter instead of catching it (unless you use L3 that's coated to catch spalding like these. L4 on left, L3+ on right)

Honestly though L4 should be the go-to just for the weight reduction imo. Carrying steel kind of sucks after awhile

Non-Tungsten .308 isn't penning real Level 4 armor (that is non chinese actually certified Level 4 Armor not "tested to NIJ Standards")

Something curious I've never seen before, RPD in use by a SOG Man, but the handguard is much too far forward and said handguard has a sling loop on it. I don't believe this is a damaged example as the handguard on the RPD has a pretty hefty retainer and in my opinion, an accident or mishap that would destroy the retainer and let the handguard slide up and down would destroy the entire gun

Sureshot MK.3 Monolithic, requires one to massively shave down the Rear sight block but allows for continuous pic rail from the front to about half way down the dust cover, also looks sick as hell. The only comparable aftermarket system in the US would be the Occam Defense Merc rail. This design isn't available (Yet?) from Sureshot USA.

TLDW
-AK-12 kits are cobbled together from blank firing and deactivated guns with a shitload of COTS parts
-The VSS kits aren't even fucking real! As in, mechanically, they are literally not VSS's, they have an entirely different trigger mechanism. They are this weird proprietary blank firing thing that some random company makes that resembles a VSS.

If you really are this concerned about an armed troon goon squad with all the LARP gear kicking down your door at 3 in the morning. The best solution is to stop them getting into your home to begin with. Or into your room. Bars on windows, or some sort of heavy mesh screwed into the king-studs. A "security bar" or Drawbar across every door and secured to the doors king-studs. Cameras with wires, as I bet someone has figured out how to jam wireless cameras. Perhaps sandbags along exterior walls to prevent rounds fired outside hitting anyone inside. Outside you should focus on removing close vegetation or other sight obstructions to the home. Better to see them coming than any benefit it may offer you. Window tints or one way films is also a good option which should allow you to see out, but no one can see in. You could consider putting up barbed or razor wire fencing as an added hassle to any troonandos. Another thing to consider is a good alarm system. The faster you know they are there, either outside the home or inside, the more time you have to prepare. I'm sure someone on this site has all the expertise you'll need.

Question to everyone else: Does anyone make an adjustable M1 Garand gas plug? I know Schuster used to make them, but they seem to have stopped. Garandgear has a ported gas plug, but it isn't adjustable. Which they considered a selling point, but I would still prefer having something I can tune to the ammo I'm using (which is preferably the cheapest I can find). I inherited this rifle and I'd prefer to have something that doesn't still allow damage to the gun, even if it costs more, than something that does, but is cheaper.

Broken record time, multiple shots on a plate with matter behind it does not require penetration to be painful and debilitating. Steel plates, while very secure, are even worse for protection because of spall and shrapnel going in all directions, most importantly up and into the face and down into the thighs. It also leaves lots of weakspots for weight savings and articulation.
I definitely understand wanting to level a fiddy cal at a minivan breaching your gate and running over your banana peppers on the way to take you out, but in reality it's going be much dumber and less dramatic.

Also, should the worry about the legality of elevating self-defense be considered in the situation of applying questionable amounts of massive lead exposure, realize that if you have a eunuch deathsquad kicking in your door armed and armored to the teeth you should be pretty okay if it even hits the courtroom. Though I'd still consider retaining a criminal defense lawyer specializing in use of force, because why not.

I use a Turbo K on my home defense AR pistol. Works pretty well, especially given how loud 223 is out of a 7" barrel indoors.
If youre really using a 7 inch barreled 556 ar for self defense id highly recommend switching to longer. At 7 inches youre getting zero fragmentation which is what makes 556 so a potent round. Youll just poking 5.56mm holes in someone instead.

The fact every swinging dick isnt issued a short barreled double or triple barreled shotgun loaded with birdshot is beyond retarded. An extremely cheap and effective way to counter these crude drones.

@Null

I'd say your best defense is . . . defense. build a blockhouse. its basically a above ground bunker, they were used to great effect on the American frontier against the Indians and against the Boers in south Africa during the Boer wars.

Full concrete construction to protect against fire. garage below with living space above. retractable stairs or ladder to the living space. slit windows too small for a man to get through. keep supplies enough to withstand a siege until the authorities come. I'd attach pics but my WiFi is shitting the bed rn but just look up "American frontier blockhouse" and im willing to bet its alot cheaper than a actual bunker.

The twist rate has this tumbling pretty quick. The accuracy is dog shit because it's for more CQB than hitting anything relevant outside of 50'

Holy shit nigger what are you doing

Not exactly gun related but home security/camera related: might be worth investing in running that cable/wire in EMT conduit or just buying shielded CAT-6e cable.

To quote that one infamous copypasta: “to cut down on electronic infetterence”. Control and data cable is run in conduit to shield from EMF, though.

That 7:1 twist rate be spittin fire

For the love of Eugene Stoner at least put a 11.5 inch upper on that.

Youll have something that reliably fragments M193 at home defense ranges and accurate out to 300-400 meters. On top of that youll have a quieter firearm that isnt going to destroy your suppressor.
