A 'home defense' setup is typically centered around potential indoor use since it could happen. Unless you're buying your own Tranch, you're not going to have the time to get a long range setup in place, and if it's in a built up environment the potential for collateral damage is high, especially with big fuckoff calibers.

Josh, an AR10 is good to go. POF or PWS makes excellent AR10s. AR15s hold more ammo, are easier to shoot accurately and quickly, and are far more common commercially than AR10s. .308 hits a fuck of a lot harder than 5.56, but keep in mind every weapon is a compromise.
