Remember when those used to come with a V10 and they looked better? Sure, they're faster now, but those 90's models with the V10 were special. Though I am intrigued by the M5 Touring. A type of car I've wanted for a long time is a fast, sporty hatchback. Something like the Audi RS 6 Avant. What do you all think of those types of cars?

Since I'm not all that much of a car guy, can one of you please explain to me why full size trucks cost more than some luxury automobiles now?! When the fuck did that happen?

Not to "well actually" but M5s had an I6 until 1995 and a V8 from 1998-2003. As for trucks, they are as expensive as luxury cars because they are luxury cars now.

Audi RS6s and the like are pretty cool but cars are so fast now that being fast is not enough. It's pretty much: oh, you spent $130,000 on a car and it's faster than a supercar was in the '90s? Good for you. At least it doesn't have V6 yet though. A stock $70,000 RS3 runs the 1/4mi faster than most Diablo models, or 911 turbos up until the early 2010s. Fast isn't special anymore, a tesla plaid is fast, what's special now are things like NA V10s and V12s.

You're right, my brain-damaged boomer ass got the dates on the M5 way wrong. It was an '06 that got the V10.

As for the Audi, I like the type of car that's fast but doesn't fully embrace the aesthetic of a super car. Plus the utility of a hatchback is nice. I could go get groceries in a damn hurry. It's no Renault Espace F1 or anything, but I bet it's a much nicer ride. I'm also a fan of the Cadillac V-series for similar reasons.

As for the trucks, I guess if I want a truck I'll have to start an LLC, buy what I want, then claim the payments as a tax write-off.

24 Equinox update, I really liked it, wife hated it. So probably just going to get another Subaru now. Looking at the 2024 Outback Premium tonight, backups are CR-V and RAV4.
Highlander's aren't too bad, either if its never getting anything worse than a dirt road thrown at it. Old Xterra's are shockingly good, too despite being a Nissan

Go for the Mitsubishi with hand crank windows lmao and laugh when others can't find the parts.

Anyone have experience with limited slip differntials? Trying to figure out if I should use a clutch type or torsen type.

What are you doing with it and what kinda car?

I'm a huge fan of LSDs esp over computer wizards and no mechanical one (both is dope)

I guess cutting your teeth on high power Hondas you learn how hard getting power down is.

It's on a 4WD S10 with an open diff. I got tired of the open differential on snow and ice, I move stuff for work and that means I come back empty in the bed and attached trailer during winter.
I was thinking of a locker possibly as well. Drifting on the department fire engine was too fun to not do but I don't think they'll let me do it again.

Edit: This means I drive offroad in fields for snow and ice as well.

Yeah I remember reading years ago on LS1tech that it was a design feature on the early LT/LS engines so it never caused any harm to them
LSx has less piston pin offset and shorter piston skirts then older style engines. This was done to decrease friction, wear and increase MPGs. So the piston wobbles a little when cold and its crossing TDC.
Considering most LSx powered cars and trucks went to the grave because of something other then mechanical engine failure I think GM was proven right that the cold slap noise was a complete non-issue. Ive pulled the pistons out a few high millage junkyard 5.3's to open the rings for boost and you could still see the factory cross hatching on the bores.

Random subject but, I must declare my love for classic American cars with transplant modern engines/transmissions and suspension, not to mention the little things like power door locks, windows and a good sound system that will just pair with your phone. They look beautiful and all the drive-ability/reliability of a modern car. Absolutely Love them.

If I had the extra money I'd probably buy a Fastback Gen 1 Mustang or a 1969 Camaro and put a brand new fuel injected electronically controlled modern V8 doner engine from the appropriate OEM manufacturer.

Have you checked out the RS3? The RS6 is more of a wagon, the RS3 is a really hot hot hatch. My friend bought one a few months back. Amazing car, that 5 cyl is a wonderful engine, sounds crazy good and it just pulls and pulls and is absolutely glued to the damn road.

No I haven't looked into that one. Probably a lot more affordable than the RS6. I'll check it out.

I dig restomodding, too bad about those wheels though :lossmanjack:
What is it about restomodders that causes them to consistently shave or black out the trim and choose wheels that look like they belong on a hoodmobile? A third of restomod builds are
>modern engine
>coilovers and big brake kit
>black everything out
>put 20" wheels on it with as many spokes or as much bling as possible
I blame pro touring. they're allergic to wheels that don't look like they came from rent-a-wheel on MLK Blvd. I get that you can't put stock/period aftermarket wheels on your '60s muscle car when you've melted down the 4 wheel drum brakes and put some stoptechs on the car, but they don't have to be completely wrong for the look of the car itself.

I bought the 24 Outback Premium. Pretty happy with my purchase, already filled the trunk space with crap I gotta move. Wife loves it which is honestly what matters most, she got car sick in the bronco sport and equinox and has none of that sitting passenger in this. May have to do that she drives a 22 Impreza hatch, so she’s used to how Subaru feels.

Sales guy was blunt with me at the dealership, apparently it’s been very slow and they are only moving the 24 models because of the low APR deals going on. They had a whole lot of 25 foresters and outbacks but only 2 24 outback’s left and 0 24 foresters.

Are you a 8.5 or 7.5? Because they have different OEM options and frankly for what you're talking about any diff will work. We also are talking a huge price gap and at a point where a 300 dollar diff beats a 1500. I think later s10s are all 7.5 10 bolts and early are still 8.5?

What kinda Fire engine did you drift? I hope a proper Seagrave. Best trucks.

I took my firebird out, I hate being in it for 200 reasons but I was proudly the creepy old guy, my girl said we need "boomer music" I had motley crue on and covered in sweat and thru the cage I deff winked at some college girl.

Does anyone have a list of WRX/STI parts like what wrx parts fit STI and vice versa, I'd love to get pops the stizzle suspension etc and probably cheaper than after market shit. Either way, I've been in my triumph alot and fuck I don't care it's a 17 sec car. It's how to drive.

You're sending it to a shop thru could reuse tips. (Tips are tied to muffler?)

I understand what you mean and it's always a pain using net stuff because compression and bad mics.

The resonators will keep rasp down hence my thoughts of muffler delete. Maybe swap their style to a race muffler / glass pack ?

My decision was made for me lol. The secondary cats started to rattle so i had them cut open, gutted and welded back up. Sounds far better now. It's nowhere near as loud as a domestic but you can tell its a V8, especially above 2500 rpm on throttle. Idle and cruising is around the same. Feels a bit quicker too. Done some work on the fuel system the other day plus gave the engine bay a good clean (which I didn't take a picture of), it's slowly coming together for a 23 year old car.

I should probably have got a 4th gen F body considering what I usually look for in a V8 coupe but the CL is like driving on glass its so smooth. I might try px for a 4th gen Firebird at some point if it starts costing me.

edit- spelling

First gen (82'-93) rear end so that's a 8.5? I'm trying to find a diesel bellhousing for it.
