UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

These are the most uninspiring England performances I’ve ever seen. It looks like no one cares and it’s just another day in the office for them.
I think they do care, and this is somehow the best they can manage. Which is something. Foden was pissed to be subbed last night even though his contribution so far has been, eh, subpar

You can feel the absolute contempt the writer has for regular people oozing out of that.
It's bad enough that I know people who've complained. It's also clearly not just France, the sticks is a wide reaching term. That it's being used outside of an opinion column is pathetic for a news organisation.

I've not really been following the French political news - I assume by 'far right' they mean they are the only party that doesn't actively invite immigrants over to gangrape the local girls?
They mean Marine, who has modernised the face of her party and brought in a lot of youth.

I would also caution that the French view of "extreme right" is drastically different to say, the American version of "extreme right". A lot of what the National Rally says it would do would be very much within the mainstream of other countries' Overton window.

Ha, BBC in full blown seethe over recent French election initial round.

Here's what it was earlier in the day

It's very racist to call Nigerians "The gloom". But it fits.
Can we talk about how shit England were against Slovakia though and decide who to blame? I blame Kieran Trippier because I don't like him
No, we can discuss English football when the team is made of English players only. International sportsball is soulless goyslop. It's who has the best niggers not who has the best team .

"Don't Play The Black Boys" has been tried by previous England managers to catastrophic results. Also, the single best player in the team is black.
"No darkies" reminds me of a famous Scottish joke about the old "three foreigners" Champions League rules. It was lampooned in Scotland as the "eight diddies" rule, since while it made no difference to the German or Italian club sides, the huns being forced to play eight Scottish players guaranteed them comical humpings every year.

I'd rather have an honest game of football between countries than watch monkeys kick the ball between themselves. I don't care what the score is, and you shouldn't be defending globalism destroying country's identities because "they kick ball good". It's disgusting. Next you will be telling me the Jewish football anthem represents English football next.

I watched all the election QT, really wasn't bias against him, everyone gets questions that shit on them, even Green Party before him got a question about racists in their party. Only thing different is the large amount of claps after the questions, and would say Farage handled the questions really badly compared to the other parties. Farage does well in group debates, where the spotlight isn't full on him with the questions but on the bigger parties or talking to his base, outside that he has never been good.

No idea why he demanded to be on this QT time, to the point BBC had to make another special for him. Did he expect him to get nice questions from the audience? Even so, think he would have been better prepared to answer questions about racism, like how did he not know that would come up? Him crying about bias BBC does play to his base so guess thats a win, but if he is planning to win over the undecided, it won't work, especially when he has been on QT over 30 times, if BBC were really that bias against him, surely would have set him up before hand.

Boris may be smarter, but only for enriching himself.
I bet he'd have supported Remain if Cameron supported Leave.
Boris did write two articles one supporting remain and one supporting leave, unsure which to publish until the last minute.

Every member of the England National team is English.

Military horses have broken free and run loose through central London for the second time since April.

Three horses from the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment "became loose from their riders" while six were exercising on Monday morning, according to the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

All horses were recovered "swiftly and safely" and returned to Hyde Park Barracks by the Army and Metropolitan Police by 09:55 BST, with one receiving minor injuries. No soldiers were injured.

Blame all of them. The players for looking like they don;t wanna be there, and Southgate for not even trying to fix it.

I read an article recently about beatification and how they described the Catholic Church astounded me on how dismissive it was. I’m fedora tipping Reddit tier atheist and it still shocked me.

It goes without saying that there’s a certain other religion wouldn’t get that treatment.

Even David Cameron left it until the last minute to decide if the government would support or campaign against Brexit.

I can’t help but think things would have been a lot smoother if he’d backed Brexit.

One of the most passionate people I see supporting the England is Ian Wright. Blood and soil nationalism is gay.

The mothers grift for McCann bucks has ended.
Got an all expenses for her and her mates out of it though.

From the gofundme (currently sat at almost £47k.

I wanted to share that these funds will be used to support the mountain rescue teams who are tirelessly searching for Jay. Additionally, since our stay in Tenerife needs to be extended, we will also use the funds to cover accommodation and food expenses. I'm surrounded by wonderful people who are by my side, but far from their loved ones, so we'll also be using part of these funds to fly them to Tenerife so we can support each other during these dark times.

Didn't you already get your shit kicked in in the thread this week for your stupid posts? Do you want to keep being bullied for being completely fucking wrong?

English people are white. This is objectively provable. You cannot find a non-white English person because the English genetics are all white. If you claim anything different you may as well call a man a woman because he cuts his dick off. If you do not know who your people are (well I doubt they're your people with that avatar and your opinions) then you're a lost cause.

Hang on. Isn't Declan Rice Irish?

As for the BBC article about the French election, if you remove the words "extreme" "far right" and "left wing" and read the article again, it sounds like the people simply voted for who they want as their government.

Yes, she could just give it all to those agencies in Tenerife that gave their staff time looking for him, a foreign national in their country.

Feel free to leave a comment on my profile or complain about the date I joined or whatever gay shit forum members who need to go outside do.

I found it hilarious that they asked Sunak about the French election considering it has fuck all to do with us, I also found it funny he asked people to prevent a Labour super majority effectively admitting days before vote that the Tories have lost and he simply wants to mitigate the damage.
