Yeah, it's still pretty common to kill boar and not eat the meat, simply because any boar alive is a net negative to every creature in the environment, except the boar. Hunters around here can make a good side hustle contracting their hunting skills out to local farmers. Some of the boars are so big, you need rifles and rounds that are borderline made for big game hunting (.308 rifle at minimum or .300 blackout if you're using an AR-15; but don't expect to recover the kill), which not every farmer has. However, if you bag one that has been castrated, it's edible and it's a lot of meat. I've had sausages made from a hunted male castrated boar and it was really good.Ferals I hunt all year round though and they're the only animals I shoot that I don't eat, I won't take a deer unless I'm keeping the meat, even trophy bucks.
