Democrats are despairing over President Joe Biden’s debate performance Thursday night, a showing so halting some even privately raised questions about whether he should remain the party’s nominee.

Biden appeared onstage with a soft, halting voice and an open-mouthed, staring look. He struggled to finish thoughts at points, and ceded ground on issues like abortion where Democrats have an edge.

It took just minutes for Democrats to realize how bad it was becoming.

“Biden looks and sounds terrible. He’s incoherent,” one Democrat who spent time working in the Biden administration said.

“Horrific,” said another Democratic operative.

And one Democrat who’s worked on campaigns up and down the ballot said simply: “We are f***ed.”

The looming question as the debate came to a close was almost existential: Should someone else top the Democratic ticket?

“It’s hard to argue that Biden should be our nominee,” said an operative who’s worked on campaigns at all levels for over a decade.

This debate was historic for many reasons, but not least because it is taking place before each man is formally nominated at their respective conventions. The Democratic National Convention is set to convene August 19 in Chicago.

Democrats have spent much of the past year handwringing about Biden’s chances of beating Trump in an election many view as an existential one that will decide the very survival of American democracy. But Biden himself was determined to be the one to take on Trump, at one point even saying directly: “If Trump wasn’t running, I’m not sure I’d be running.”

No serious Democratic challengers stepped up to run against Biden, and at this point in the campaign he’d have to decide to step aside if Democrats were to pick another nominee. If Biden did withdraw, the Democratic nomination would be decided on the floor.

Democrats were even talking about who it might be instead: “If I was Gavin (Newsom) or Gretchen (Whitmer), I’d be making calls tonight,” one said.

There is also the possibility that he really did have a cold, so the drugs had more to overcome than usual. He might not have a cold next time.
Pressing x to doubt.

One of the first sentences a person would say if they are expected to public speak and have/had a cold would be

"Please excuse my voice, I'm just getting over a cold".

There was no excessive coughing, throat clearing during the whole debate.

The right doesn't understand there's no such thing as grassroots organizing; you can't do much unless you have powerful interests behind you. The left gets away with outright terrorism because high-powered lawyers, billionaires, politicians, and university professors support them. The entire power apparatus of the right, by contrast, exists mainly to choke organizing to death and prevent the constituents' interests from interfering with those of the donors.
This is why David Hines is wrong about how the right wing can totally organize like the left if they wanted. He seemingly refuses to admit that the sole reason the left-wing organizing tactics works is because they have infinity money via higher ups. Right-wing higher ups simply suck.

Also, a cold impacts your throat and respiration. It does not cause your brain to malfunction.
The problem was not his voice. the problem was that his brain does not work.

I remember when the narrative was that republicans were the ones with infinity money.

If I could float an idea, I think part of it is that for whatever reason, people who live in cities are further on the left, and it's easier to get a healthy turnout in a place with 5,000 people per square mile than 5 people per square mile.

Just being able to take a bus to a protest gets some bodies who wouldn't otherwise show.

A cold causes fatigue and sluggishness, which can impact your brain's performance when you are an ancient old man trying to perform in a high stakes situation live in front of 50 million people.

And the higher-ups won't enforce the law against them. Hines thinks it's because Antifa is careful to stay inside of legal bounds, not because the judges are their friends and simply ignore laws. When Antifa insurrectionists were arrested following "Disrupt J20," leftist DC judges ordered them released from jail and fined the DOJ. No such concern about jailing people without having charges immediately at hand applied to J6 defendants.

I almost laughed when I saw a line in one of Hines' articles that leftist protestors were totally normal people who totally had normal jobs.

How can you get so close yet so far?

You remember the antifa guy who shot a guy in the head because he was wearing a MAGA cap? They were going to charge him with second degree murder, which is what you charge someone with when they kill someone by being a negligent retard. He only saw justice because he didn't know the law was going to go easy on him and decided to have a shootout with the cops.

Hines is incredibly obtuse about this. He also thinks APA-based slapdowns of Trump EOs were legitimate. I quit paying attention to him because he thinks the legal system is blind and not infested with corrupt leftists.

I think it's just a matter of the underlying psychology that leads to one being left or right-wing in the first place. Is it surprising that the people who want to organize some form of communism are more prone to organizing whereas the people who want greater individual autonomy and individual liberty are less prone in organizing?

The left's organizing is also disjointed and prone to splintering in the absence of any active event that might focus all of those smaller group's attention against some common target as opposed to each other. Look at all of the variants the self-proclaimed communists split themselves into as they bicker with each other: Leninists, Trotskyists, and the dozens of other flavors or subdivisions that no one cares about.

If these idiots ever did manage to attain any kind of power the person who seizes control would immediately purge the leadership in the other groups for being the wrong sort of communists and to ensure that they don't pull exactly the same shit. Look at the Soviet Union or any other communist country for that matter and it's rife with examples of people being exiled or just killed.

The right will never have mass success through organizing, it's just not the way they're wired. They would get better results be helping people to gain greater autonomy over their own lives and enabling them to be a functioning member of society at an individual level. Those people aren't tempted by the hollow promise of the great future utopia and don't join stupid commie groups.

Yeah, no, Jill was outright lying to his face and giving him moral support like he was a 3 year old at a dance recital. Don't get it twisted, she was patronizing him like you would a grandpa who doesn't know where he is.

"You answered every question right, you did so good!"

Embarrassing.
I just love the post-debate gaslighting that's been going on in his defense.

Like anyone with a brain can't see exactly what you're doing. Puh-lease.

Am I a bad person if I kind of want to vote Joe just to see it collapse?
Not really. America died long before anyone in this forum was born and the success of right wing populism will only serve the purpose of killing whites to sleep. Trump will be the savior of Israel if he gets elected and demographic replacement will still be happening

The right has tried to organize many times. Militias, the Tea Party, you name it. The reason it goes nowhere is there's no power backing it, and in fact, our side's faction in government regards it as their #1 duty to break up any nascent right-wing organization. They send out grifters to bleed the organizations dry of money, they pass bipartisan laws to ban what we're doing, and they step aside while the law is used in its full force against us. There have been some successes, like pro-life and 2A organizing.

The reason the left gets away with things like barricading federal agents in a building and setting it on fire, trying to storm the White House, busting up a Senator's ribs, or trying to kill somebody with a bike lock, is their allies in government ensure that there aren't consequences. The reason antifa terror cells operate in the USA is the same reason Muslim rape gangs operate in the UK - there is official support for them.

I guarantee you that if smacking a bluehaired SJW on the head with a bike lock resulted in nothing more than a suspended community service sentence, this would be a very different country.

No one in power likes the shittier, more insane versions of themselves beyond their usefulness in helping them get into power. Modern militia groups are mainly idiots larping and the tea party were ineffectual retards that fell apart after everyone involved realized as much. Collections of right-wing individuals are largely just as worthless as the collections of left-wing individuals. It's groups of worthless individuals who hope that by banding together they might find strength instead of becoming strong enough to not need a collective.

It's still a bughive regardless of the political leaning of the bugs.

They send out grifters to bleed the organizations dry of money

Every group with money will be infiltrated by grifters. You're not special. Strong individuals have no need to pay a proxy to stand up for them, and if you find yourself in a group of people that's being heavily grifted it should tell you a lot about the company that you're in. Conmen can't operate in an environment without marks.

The reason antifa terror cells operate in the USA is the same reason Muslim rape gangs operate in the UK - there is official support for them.

The reason they get away with it is that they do it in cities that are already rotten to the core. There's a reason that this shit happens in Seattle or Portland or any of the other cities that anyone to the political right of Pol Pot abandoned long ago. Who cares if they shit up their own bughive even more? Maybe you view it as the affront to the decency of the country that it is, but those idiots are all getting exactly what they voted for. The only real concern is that they move somewhere else without realizing that they were the catalyst for the same reasons for which they now want to leave.

'What could go wrong!' Op-ed begs Biden not to listen to grandkid and dance on TikTok https://archive.is/wip/Czlq7

No number of Tik-Toking grandchildren can save President Joe Biden's campaign following his "mythically catatonic performance at last week’s debate," a new opinion piece contends.

Slate staff writer Luke Winkie laid into the Bidens following a report in The New York Times that at least one of the commander-in-chief's grandchildren expressed interest in getting more involved to help his campaign, which has faced intense scrutiny from pundits, donors and some in the Democratic Party.

An "informed" source told the Times that the grandchild (or grandchildren) considered possibly talking to social media influencers.
