Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

Ages ago, I came here to bitch about how anaslop fags don't know horror because they try to explain everything. I found the faggot I was thinking about when writing that.

Where it is now.

I'm sure someone here can express it better, but there's something inherently soy about trying to logically explain how you can survive the genre-bending, thought-provoking, only kind of horror Gen Alpha can stomach. Does anyone want to find out how you too can become a logical survivor?

Westside Tyler (10K subs), a leftist streamer, accused The Lore Lodge (495K subs), a true crime channel, of plagiarism. They then had a screaming match about it on stream (50 minutes):
I have never watched TLL or even heard of them before so I have no stake in this. True Crime channels do copy a lot though, so I keep an open mind.

I tried to watch Tyler's earlier video, in which Tyler goes through Lore Lodge's video on the Killdozer and points out all the alleged plagiarism. The first thing Tyler points out is that Lore Lodge's use of what is clearly (likely royalty free) stock footage for cahtent creators is 'not fair use', and that even royalty free stock footage still needs to be credited or else it's plagiarism somehow. Which is not true, many stock sites offer videos and music that does not need to be credited, depending on your subscription plan and whether it is free or limited stock. I have used these sites myself in the past. In an edit to the original video's description, Lore Lodge states that they use Storyblocks, exactly such a website.

Even Tyler's own chat is pointing out that he is wrong here - the oil refinery drone footage in the image is the stock footage Tyler is complaining about, by the way. We're 4 minutes in, I don't think I can watch 55 minutes of 'examples' like this.

In both his response video and the stream, Tyler claims that footage was lifted from a documentary called Tread without attribution. Lore Lodge claims that they refer to Tread 15 times in the video itself. I believe them, because three minutes into the video they explicitely name and show their main sources.

I suppose what Tyler is getting at is that he believes that every image and every piece of video used in the Lore Lodge video needs to have a written citation or attribution added to it, Breadtuber style. But in my opinion that's nitpicking to the extreme, almost no one does that, not on YouTube and certainly not in the mainstream media. It's a courtesy and a personal preference, not a rule. I personally do not like to see walls of text on every photo shown on screen, when there are other ways to refer to sources. Tyler's video seems like a lazy hitjob and his smug mugging is a real turn-off. Why, I'd even call it 'duper's delight'.

I watch The Lore Lodge regularly. I really love his work simply because he actually puts in effort to understand the cases, doesn't just blithely repeat David Palides' take, and sometimes it's interesting when he talks about the local native legends and lore of an area before diving into the missing person (or whatever he's talking about, usually it's missing people.) One of the big reasons I watch his videos is I can listen to them without the visuals and not lose the central information, so I can put them on while I'm working. I know a lot of true crime content is shlocky, lazy, AI-voiced "here's police interrogation footage for 99% of this video," but TLL isn't one of those channels.

Tyler's take is ice cold and I would not have sex with him.

A bizarre segment were he says the killer in Urbanspook makes no sense because he has no motive
That's... Stupid. Not everything in existence needs to be explained or debunked.
"Erhm sorry CHUD but the le serial killer has no heccin motivationerino!!!! So its BAD actually!" Nigga some of the most iconic characters in horror have little to no backstory or motivation.
I'd like to point at The Poughkeepsie Tapes where the killer has no stated motivation for doing what he does.

The horror comes from this mystery paired with the absolute demented shit he is does and the fact that we never find out who he is or where he comes from. Hell, he's not even caught.

Sometimes evil is just evil and people are born that way. They don't need a reason to be evil. They just are.

Is that not alright?

I swear to god you guys and the horrorslop youtuber of the week are the only people who autistically follow the urpanspook discourse THIS much.
Guilty as charged. The only reason I even clicked the video is because it had Fucktoy Cory on the thumbnail.

On a more serious note though, when youtubers talk about analogue horror they almost always bring up urbanspook and why the series does everything wrong. Not saying they are wrong but it only happens because hating this series in particular is the "cool" and "in" thing to do otherwise they would ignore it like the hundreds of other anaslop series no one cares or talks about. Like that spongebob series that no one cared for or made a video about UNTIL Stephen Hillenburg was mentioned. Analogue horror youtubers LOVE their mid non scary series until something controversial happens, then you better expect a stern lecture on what's acceptable and what's too far.

The Poughkeepsie Tapes and Creep are my favorite "found footage" films for this reason. Not everything needs a deep philosophical reason for why it happens, sometimes people are just evil. They purposely lie and manipulate others and lead them on for their own amusement and the people trying to understand and profile them can't fathom that some are just not right in the head.

Ehh Idk.

Look at LL's Xitter. They dropped the lawsuit even tho they were eager to sue their accuser. Kinda weird.
Do you know how much of a pain in the ass a lawsuit is and how much of a gamble you are taking with your livelihood? TLL probably weighed his options and decided that it’s better to just let it go. Probably a smart decision so he doesn’t become the next Vic Mignogna.

Do you ever think of a horror idea that geniuely scares you?
Paralysis/sinking where you either can't move, or your struggling does nothing but make your fate come at you quicker. As a kid, I fucking loathed those censored horror episodes of Saturday morning cartoons. You know, those episodes where they're doing a spooky monster story, but since they can't have the monster murdering or brutalizing characters, instead it's always like some 'turn to stone/paralysed' or 'Gets bound and sealed in a flesh pod' shit. Scared the shit out of me.

My childhood nightmares were of that fucker from Scooby Doo's second live action movie, the goo monster that just expands enough that you literally down in sticky black tar, sinking my house while all I could do was sit in my bedroom and slowly lose light.

Makes me think of how Batman TAS couldn't have Joker kill people, so he just got them with that "Joker gas" that made them smile/laugh uncontrollably forever.

Human ingenuity applied primarily for the purpose of making killing as efficient as possible is something that keeps me up at night. I should state before I go any further that I would never do something like it, matter of fact I take a hardline stance against violence of any kind - that being said I've spent countless nights letting my mind run wild conjuring up all sorts of bad scenarios that could arise anytime I go out into the world, most of them revolve around some fucker with an axe to grind with the common man, who wants to try something new, eschewing an attack with a gun in favor of more inhumane and non-discriminatory weaponry - with myself getting caught in the crossfire. Chemical warfare, biological warfare, energy based weaponry created from jury rigged electronical appliances that are found in every household, and the like are scary as is - what frightens me more is imagining what would happen if someone who had no ties to any central authority, leadership, or military decided to use them. You could make a horror movie about an autist who goes off his rocker and decides to use his hyper-fixation on unconventional warfare to become one of the most efficient serial killers in history - what would scare me most about it would be the thought that it could give the real life equivalent of the killer in the movie some new ideas. I used to be a faggot who lamented that the Basement Tapes were destroyed, purely out of curiosity for what was on them - but after realizing that there was a fair chance that they would have served as a DIY Guide for a generation of would-be mass murderers - who would have deemed the Geneva Convention as a hindrance - I realized that some information is best left in the burn pit.

A tranny endorsed by Wendiggon made a video about Terrifier 2 in which he comes to the realization that he is as much of a degenerate weirdo sadist as Damien Leone (director of the film), but he is better because the scene he wrote about the main character grotesquely torturing a living woman had a narrative purpose.

Hey, this guy is basically a thread regular by this point, good to see that some things never chamge
