Exclusive: One in three Democrats think Biden should quit the race, Reuters/Ipsos poll finds

(Article) (Archive)

WASHINGTON, July 2 (Reuters) - One in three Democrats think U.S. President Joe Biden should end his reelection bid following last week's debate against Republican Donald Trump, but no prominent elected Democrat does any better than Biden in a hypothetical matchup against Trump, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll that closed on Tuesday.

Biden is plummeting in the betting markets.

Perez has to be nervous about the downballot effects of Biden's collapse. She's in a tight rematch against Joe Kent. Pre-debate polling has shown a very narrow lead for Kent. That might explain Golden's remarks earlier as well (he's in ME-2 which has become quite red).

Chicago has ruled that the DNC may not be protested. All protest applications are being held without action until the city is "prepared to approve or deny them" so they can't even be FOIA'd because "they're not completed yet so they are not official documents so FOIA does not apply" - DaFuQ?

All protests must occur at least 3 miles away from the Convention site by the way. The mayor of Chicago says the city police do not have the resources to handle any protests so he will likely deny any requests.

Burning down city blocks by large groups of black clad morons? That's OK!

Applying to legally protest the DNC convention? Fuck no son, here comes the Riot Squad and if you get arrested you'll get the book thrown at you.

Hypocrisy thy name is Democrat.

Here's a video by a raging faggot about it but what he says is accurate

If they don't have the manpower to police protests near the convention how are they going to prevent protests near the convention? This shitshow is going to be biblical.

The mayor is talking out both sides of his ass

He'd been given an impossible task and he knows it but when your Master says jump...well you best get dem feet off the ground boy.

Not that you should engage in illegal protests, but protests are about pissed off people airing their grievance, so that you have to ask for permission was always cuck behavior. Yeah, yeah, public safety, but the Left doesn't care about that.

Antifa and the Hamas groupies aren't too keen on paperwork anyway.

How keen are they to organize something when they know the local legal authorities won't hold their hand and give them a slap on the wrist though? Such a situation could certainly reduce the amount of people present for any kind of "assembly" or protest.

If they're really running Copmala all Trump has to do is point out her non-record of fumbling every easy assignment the Biden Administration ever gave her and bring up how she threw thousands of black people in prison for weed. The Trump campaign ads showing her drunk in interviews will be pretty funny too.

Nobody who votes Democrat gives a shit about somebody's record. They vote Democrat because they think not voting Democrat will result in Turbo-Hitler creating Super-Nazism.

So many cops in Chicongo have quit since the 2020 race riots that they barely have a skeleton force, and those that remain are completely demotivated. The local DAs are all Soros plants that refuse to prosecute criminals, but love to try cops for murder when they ventilate a chimp in the middle of a stabbing spree. Combined, this makes Chicago a prime zone for 'spontaneous mass violence' like out of control protests and looting sprees.

The 'local authorities' are logistically and ideologically unable to control mass unrest in the city. I can imagine the fat faggot Governor might try to call in state police, or cops from other cities, but they aren't going to give a shit about actually doing anything. Its not their town, first of all, and second they know that they'll be thrown under the bus in a picosecond for optics. The days of steely eyed mayors and cops spraying rioters with water cannons is gone, forever.

The only thing that threatens the ability for the hordes to mobilize is funding, since the Democrats can actually cut that off pretty easily. Probably.

I don't think we are in store for a 1968. There's protests, there will always be protesters at it, but the 1968 chaos had to do with it being a jungle primary and the convention was a magnet because it was in that long period when Democrats owned Congress for much of the 20th century.

This convention will be more like a funeral/tax-seminar, with a dead presidential campaign leading the convention. It's a repeat of Reagan/Dukakis.

That takes the "shiny object" away from activists. It turns a high-profile convention into a Libertarian meet-up on an off-week at the airport Sheraton. Nobody will give a shit.

Wait. We're set up for the first disastrously contentious convention since the infamous 1968 riots... and it's Democrats in Chicago again?!?

If we get riots again, we are officially being trolled by the Simulation.

What is he hoping to achieve here? To come off as folksy and humorous? Does he really think this makes him look better?

Also, when were these alleged back-to-back trips to Europe? Pretty sure he went to Camp David for a week, then straight to the debate, so was the jet lag still present after that long a time? Lmao he’s so full of shit.
Literally "Sleepy" Joe Biden.

Does anyone know which senate and house races are going to be interesting/close this year?
270towin.com compiles a bunch of pundit forecasts for Presidency, House, and Senate, so you can go there and click around.
For Senate this cycle, Dems will be forced to defend a ton of seats this year, GOP basically start at 50 seats unless Rick Scott or Ted Cruz lose in Florida/Texas - not likely, but not totally impossible.
  • Jon Tester (Montana) and Sherrod Brown (Ohio) are two Dem incumbents in solid or increasingly-red states at the presidential level. Trump being on the ballot should seal their demise - especially after the last couple of days - but both are very strong in their states and I wouldn't count either out.
  • The next two seats that I think would flip are Jacky Rosen's in Nevada and Tammy Baldwin's in Wisconsin, just based off of positive results for the Republicans - R's flipped the Governorship in Nevada and just fell short of ousting a fellow Dem-incumbent, while Rep-incumbent Ron Johnson managed to hang on to his seat - in what was otherwise a poor showing for Senate candidates. I do think races in this bullet point and below are all favored to go blue, but changing circumstances (once again, the Dems falling apart at the top of the ticket) could push these races towards the GOP.
  • Krysten Sinema (Independent) in Arizona is giving up her seat, but I think the Dem candidate Ruben Gallego is an early favorite to win due to the AZ GOP likely going with Kari Lake again. Arizona just isn't a very Trumpy state - this was the state that spat out McCain, after all - and I think it'll be hard for MAGA candidates to win.
  • There are other races in the Midwest battlegrounds (Michigan, Pennsylvania, Minnesota) but those are more out of reach for the GOP and I don't expect Republicans to flip any of these seats unless it's a red wave year (and even then...)
  • There is a slight possibility that Maryland's open seat flips red due to the former governor Larry Hogan contesting the seat, but I wouldn't count on it.
As for House? Mapping the Battlegrounds is past my (considerable) autism I'm afraid, but they're basically spread out all over the country, including some states that would be safe the Presidential level (California, New York, Florida, etc.)

TL;DR: Republicans start at an effective floor of 50 (unless they really screw the pooch, but by that point we'll be seeing a Dem trifecta anyway) and Democrats will have to defend a ton of seats this cycle. There are 5 main "toss-up" seats, 2 of which tilt Republican and 3 of which tilt Democrat, and 3 additional seats which lean further to the left. All 8 of these "reasonably competitive" seats are Democratic incumbents (Arizona I'll consider Democratic for simplicity's sake).
