Sam Hyde

The podcast has always been a low effort way to make steady income for new projects. I think he didn't mind doing it as much before, but now that Sam has so much stuff going on, it's turned into this annoying chore that has to be done to ensure positive cash flow.

Nick did a brand new "man on the street" style interview for all the old fans who miss that style of content. There's no reason why he and Sam can't do more stuff like this. Nick released an actual old school skit a year or so ago that was really well done but didn't get any attention and has been forgotten. I've never seen it mentioned anywhere and I can't even find it because it's buried underneath hundreds of random clips from his streams on the same channel. It was about a father dropping his daughter off at college. It has the classic MDE vibe where it's funny, yet way too real and relatable in a sad way.

Sam reinvented himself after the cancellation and his new audience knows him as a streamer. That's what he does now. Old fans like us are eagerly awaiting a return to form with WP2 while his new fans haven't even experienced it yet. Sam Hyde is the guy from the PGL podcast who is racist and yells a lot. Nick is Sam's co-host who reviews real estate. Charles is.... wait who even is that??

I've been following Sam religiously for years. I used to frequent the mde.tv imageboard and r/milliondollarextreme. In my opinion he sort of fell off after the cancellation of WP. Honestly, I didn't really find WP that good either. Can't say I remember even half of the episodes. MDE does not fit within the Adult Swim universe. Maybe Sam realized that, thus him starting to burn the bridges. But why even bother getting the shit on Adult Swim in the first place?

He lost a lot of good peeps along the way. Andrew Ruse specifically. Even Charls and Nick for quite some time. I stopped following him after that. When I rediscovered him, I was shocked by his new zoomer team, 1Team. Probably the biggest mistake in MDE history.

I'm starting to feel optimistic about MDE again. There is no MDE without Sam, Nick and Charls. Alex Schultz is a fantastic addition to the team. Go watch his early stuff (Be Nice To Me Productions) on YouTube if you haven't. Now, if they only were to get Ruse back - it would be a new dawn.

I’m glad MDE is back and promoting Western values and calling out rootless cosmopolitanism again as well. With the loss of Murdoch Murdoch, there was a drought of true pro Western comedic content untainted by urban values and grifting. The new Nick vid and recent Sam content prove that there’s still a future in media for those who question the Controllers

Fishtank is the focus now and WP2 is very close to a release (his main project), he's doing what people would say/consider "filler" media, content that is made to keep the momentum going on his channels right now before the WP2 premiere. I wouldn't do any crazy stuff before a release of a major project either, better to play it safe.

It's interesting to see what people are nostalgic for. I felt this was one of the weaker eras for Sam considering that MDE was effectively broken up. I'll have to go back and give these another look at some point.
