Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

While I disagree with the first point, you are correct that Temple of Doom is the best one, people who like Crusades are morons who clap at a total repeat for the first. It baffles me that more people don't pick up on that, I blame Spielberg for that.
Temple is the best one because it's the only one that feels really exotic, a strange adventure in an alien setting. The other two are just Hollywood Jews writing Nazi death porn (which honestly should be it's own genre.)

Crystal Skull was a legitimate attempt to update the formula, but Shia LeBoeuf stopping Communists from claiming ancient relics isn't a line Hollywood would cross.

Then in Indiana Jones, this doesn't happen, stuff that George had direct involvement like the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles is ignored
slightly off topic, but the young indy Chronicles (specifically the ww1 episodes) are fantastic and I'll hear nothing to the contrary. It singlehandedly got me into WW1 stuff.

Reading that new interview with Leslye Headland.

When asked why their new sith character would go up against 10 jedi masters with only a helmet to protect him, she invokes an Elden Ring meme. It's... Uh... Interesting.

Also, are we back with Reylo bullshit?
Last minute desperate pivot after being the "gayest and lamest" show failed horribly I think. Would not be shocked if a sudden reshoot was forced based on the slight death twitches that were brought up due to Smilo Ren looking reasonably jacked.

Why is this shit on my Twitter timeline?

I like the show a lot, with the WWI season being a highlight. It's impressive what they got done on a TV budget. However, I feel that the show leaned a bit too much into the "teaching kids about history" aspect. I love history, but it's getting a bit wild how Indy just happened to meet every relevant historical figure from the early 20th century, and it comes at the expense of him going on his own adventures. Supposedly, there was a fourth season which a larger focus on that planned, but they scrapped it due to low ratings. Still, some good stuff in that show, especially with Henry Jones Sr. And it treated the concept "Old Indy" with a lot more respect than Disney did.

Since it feels like a good time to ask, what is the definitive list of good star wars vydia? Preferably those that have an original story and aren't just a retelling of the movies

Any particular genres you are looking for, and do you care if the story relies on supplemental information to get the whole picture?

I can talk about the games I have played though:
  • Battlefront 1 and 2 (Classic): great multiplayer shooters, can use gameranger to still play multiplayer matches easily, cheap
  • Dark Forces/Jedi Knight Series: schizophrenic genre flipping, but great, action games starts out with probably the best DoomClone, moves over to a shooter/3rd person melee full 3d game in Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight, which is then followed up with the great sequel Dark Forces 3: Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, then the best of the series, Dark Forces 4: Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Outcast 2: Jedi Academy.
  • The Empire at War series: probably the best Star Wars RTS
  • KotOR 1 and 2: I have spoken about them often, great cRPGs, KotOR 2 is frankly the best Star Wars story ever made, and a genuine subversion and deconstruction that manages to not fuck up the world and not come off as mean spirited.
  • SWtOR: The MMO, I really like it, has 8 main stories, a unique questline for every planet and 2 great expansions (Eternal Empire stuff is a matter of personal taste, I don't care for it). If you only play one, go Sith Warrior.
  • Jedi Fallen Order: A metroidvania souls like, good, but it is Disney canon
  • Lego Star Wars: if you are feeling nostalgic for your childhood or want just a good fun collectathon game, they do still hold up.
  • Republic Commando: good tactical FPS

I really wish the Dread Masters storyline wasn't gated behind three raids.
They were peak Star Wars and better than the plans for Kotor 3, vanilla SWTOR or Eternal Empire.
But most people aren't going to do the raids in order or do raids at all.

His character design was a long process.
What character design? It's just some guy in black robes with a vaguely Kylo Ren helmet. Is she counting all other Star Wars media where Sith wore black robes as part of the design process?
Leslye Headland said:
Originally, even up until shooting, The Stranger was not in a lot of the rest of the season. He was much more of a tee-up for a second season arc.
So even less was going to happen? :story:

As soon as I said he didn’t have armor, everyone lost their mind. “How can you not have armor?
Darth Maul didn't wear armor. Count Dooku didn't wear armor. Sheev didn't wear armor. The Jedi didn't wear armor except in the Clone Wars and don't in this show. Kylo Ren just had a helmet. This guy has a helmet and at least one bracer or gauntlet of the magic lightsaber-shorting-out metal. What the fuck is she talking about?
Leslye Headland said:
It still scares me because I know he’s probably not going to kill her because that’s the main character, but because he just killed a main character, I’m also a little scared.
He's a fictional character you made up and you are afraid of him because he might do things you didn't write for him to do?
Leslye Headland said:
There’s some sort of mixture of strength and existential dread and violence in him.
There is? He seems very chill. Is his Sith name Darth Mellow?
Leslye Headland said:
There are certain Disney rules like “Oh, yeah, you’re not going to kill that character. How could you?” And not only did we kill that character, but we killed the character in such a shocking and frankly upsetting way
So there aren't 'certain Disney rules'.
Leslye Headland said:
t’s kind of a brittle thing. There’s also a limited resource of it, which is why he doesn't have a whole suit of armor, and it only works for maybe a minute.
Maybe there is some why that this information could have been conveyed to the audience in the show. Also didn't you just say he wasn't wearing armor and it blew everyone's minds?
Leslye Headland said:
Listen, I’m not hugely in that world, but I do think that when people get into their own imaginations — whether they’re playing Elden Ring or they’re writing fanfic
Seems like she's deep in that world and nowhere near Star Wars but okay.
Leslye Headland said:
It’s got a lot of the stuff that we’ve already had, but if there’s anything different about the second half of the season, it’s darker. It gets increasingly more emotional
That 'if' tells me the last two episodes are going to be exactly as tedious as the first six.

Also this Leslye lady needs a helmet:

I forgot how silly their headgear looked. Its like an Indiana Jones anime evil wizard mask.

I would add Galactic Battlegrounds to the list. It's literally Age of Empires 2, but with a Star Wars coat of paint. Pretty decent game, but the AI cheats like a motherfucker.

Here's a list of games I haven't played, but heard good things about:

- Star Wars Episode I Racer is apparently a great racing game.
- There's the Rogue Squadron trilogy of games, though the names of the other two games escape me. I've actually played Rogue Squadron, and it was pretty nice.
- X Wing Alliance is supposed to be good if you like dogfighting in space.

Also, while we're on the subject, is Squadrons any good? I got a key for it gifted by a friend, but haven't user it yet. Also, would it fit in with the EU?

Agreed.

It does build your genocidal instincts because once you manage to resist their endlessly spamming units storming your base and outdo it, the AI will suddenly shut down but you will be, by that point, on TOTAL AI DEATH and you will seek to eradicate every unit, from the stray worker droid to the lone farm.

Decent campaigns as well.
Tutorial campaign ties into the last campaign as a nice book end.
Get to play as the Trade Federation genociding Gungans.
Gungan campaign has you fighting against a evil gungan warlord in ancient times.
Clone Wars campaign introduces jedi who will aid the rebels in the early days of the rebel alliance.
Galactic Empire campaign is narrated by Mara Jade and features Darth Vader absolutely cleaning house.
A actually good wookiee campaign featuring trandoshan slavers and Chewie having to duel a treasonous family member that works with the empire.
Game includes several EU characters, locations, and events alongside movie moments.

As controversial as they might be storywise, The Force Unleashed I & II are genuinely pretty fun to play. That being said, they are still very much entry level Star Wars games. Once I got to the Jedi Knight series, I started liking those more.
