One Piece - I'm Gonna Be the Pirate King!

I could see Bonney rebuilding her crew with Kuma, the surviving Punks, and whatever survivors of her and Kuma's crew show up. Knowing Shanks, he probably found them and wrangled them into the Red Hair Grand Fleet, though who knows if they'll rejoin Bonney voluntarily.
i will be astounded if kuma makes it off of egghead. this whole arc has felt like the finale for his story but who knows.
Unless she settles with the giants/Vegapunk, the SH are currently her only real means of protection and "crewmates" for now.
i could see her joining the strawhats because of luffy being like nika. she would also be like the shanks/buggy of the crew in that shes just a random little kid.

Oh fuck it hit me talking to my brother about the recently-revealed ex-Warlord Hanafuda. His title was "King of Lizards" and he was collecting/hunting down Ancient Zoans.

He's a motherfucking T-Rex, isn't he? We haven't seen that Zoan Fruit yet out of all the dinosaur forms so far, it's always been weird we haven't gotten to see one since Little Garden.

I'm quoting you and then spoiling all the good parts of the SBS

This is the most detailed design we've gotten out of a throwaway character in the SBS in quite some time. Any other time it's a quick sketch that shows the basic gist of what the character looks like, or a rough profile like when Oda drew the Roger or Spade Pirates. Was he supposed to show up at some point? Or is he a set of recycled ideas? His name ("hanafuda" playing cards), theming ("Lizard King" epithet), and hobby (collecting Ancient Zoan fruit) all reek of Wano lead-up. I even thought for a second this all could've been the backstory for Ulti & Page One's dead father.
Question : In Chapter 1100, the Warlord that Ace beat which was being talked about by Kuma and St. Saturn, what was that person like?
Answer : He looks like this. His name is "Hanafuda". His hobby is collecting Ancient Zoan Devil Fruits. On what he's scheming behind this remains unknown up to now. His height is 514 cm. His other name is "King of Lizards"

I'm a little more concerned about this though:
Question : Golden Lion Shiki has finally appeared in the main storyline, so this mean that the events of the movie, STRONG WORLD have been officially incorporated into the timeline of the main story?
Oda : Well, you can "forcefully" incorporate the whole movie but if you do that, it won't be that much connected to the main story. However, regarding STRONG WORLD, what I think is, the Shiki that existed originally in the main story is the same person used in the movie. Yes he's in the main story from the start. However if it wasn't shown in the movie, Shiki wasn't supposed to have eaten the "Float Float Fruit".

I have a self rule that I won't make a guy that can freely fly and float in the air, so I decided to seal away the "Float Float Fruit" (Because it's a manga about pirates), but since it was used in the movie, I have to use it now on the original work. Lol. It's true that a strange "reverse importation" has occured.

Aside from the translation giving me a headache, does this mean that manga Shiki didn't have a Devil Fruit power, and only movie Shiki did? Or at least that's what the intention was supposed to be? Also this puts to rest the idea that specific movie means anything to the manga.

Apparently not even the Japanese can read:
Question : Hello, Odacchi-san! Granny Nyon said that the Empress from two generations ago died from falling madly in love, but the Empress from two generation ago was Shakuyaku! Why did Granny Nyon lied about this?
Oda: This is a matter or reading comprehension. It's not a lie, what she's referring to in this line "The Empress from two generation also...." was talking about the Love Sickness that she also go! In fact, in the past, the Empresses and warriors of this country have always died from this sickness without knowing the true reason, but in the recent years, Granny Nyon and the others seems to have avoided death by going overseas.

Timeline For the Empresses, and for Boa's situation.

This should've been a cover story.
Question : Hello, Oda! I wrote this letter from France, and I wanted to know how the members of CP9 got promoted into CP0. I wish you good luck!
Oda : Ok, because of the translation, the Japanese got weird, so I just put the message as is. Firstly, let's talk abou the CP9, who were defeated at Enies Lobby. They CP9 members appeared in the Cover Story Series - CP9's Independent Report, in which they were blamed by their chief, Spandam, with the "Sin of Mission Failure", in which they decided to vanish somewhere else.

That's how their training to get stronger started. On the other hand, for some reason, due to the authority of Spandine, Spandam's father, he got promoted as Chief of CP0! From here, Lucci and the others uncovered the "Invasion Crime" plot that the underworld bigshot and former Level 6 prisoners were scheming with Spandine and crushed those organizations to prevent it.

After that Incident, Lucci and the others were reinstated as agents of CP0. Spandine is on his sickbed and lost all his authority, and Spandam became Lucci's underling.

Question : The CP8 member Alpha, is she a relative of Kalifa? Also, CP9 is an organization not known to the public, but is CP0 known publicly?
Oda : Alpha is Kalifa's younger sister. Among the members of CP9 from 22 years ago, we saw Laskey. He is the father of these two. Basically, Cipher Pol raises kids with no kin relations for them to become excellent intelligence agents, so their case is a rare one. In reality, they were individually raised apart from each other, with almost no familial connections at all. That's because "Emotion" can become a weakness in this world.

To be fair, it really did feel like Carrot was getting set up as the last crew mate, which started that entire ordeal.
I thought for a while she was a shoe in and definitely better than...
Yamato is the big one, but still gotta do
the Oden LARP.
... the fucking larper, so glad she didn't officially join. I already didn't feel much for the character, but all of the retardedness from western discussion killed any and all investment I could ever have in the character.
the idea of a final strawhat is interesting but i honestly doubt it will happen. i could see one of the vegapunks tagging along for a little bit but thats about it. unless they decide to do something crazy and have someone like koby join for some reason.
Though rereading the series has made me look at Franky and Jinbei with better eyes, I still think there are too many mugis anyway, so I hope nobody else joins outside of the obligatory "everyone's here" moment that will happen with the straw hat fleet. Vegapunks I see won't end up dead, so definitely seem like tagalongs till elbaf and I imagine they will stay with Saul.
That’s the most desperate people have gotten in wanting a crew member since vivi. If she did, the toxicity with she’s a “real man” would have been unbearable.
Pretty much.
Yup.

Gets funnier as well.

There is a straight up stated trans character in Wano. And they do not care about them.
Kikunojo, nobody gave a shit about you and I'm not particularly surprised. It was also one of those "trans out of survival" which makes the whole thing pointless to even discuss in western terms. He was so forgettable that I thought he died, but seems he only lost an arm.
And we’re supposed to find this endearing. Maybe it’s a Japanese cultural thing lost on us Western Internet users.
Always happens.
I presume Oda made the character without taking into account the western gender specials.
He did it because he thought it would be fun/funny. It's not his fault that our side of the pond has changed so much that if Bon Clay and Ivankov were introduced today, it would be a shit storm of epic proportions of whining.
Doesn’t Bonney have her own crew, along with a ship?
Somebody already said it, but she lost them all when Teech wrecked her shit. Lets see what she does from now. At a minimum I expect her to be honorary straw hat in tow like Vivi, Law or Kinemon.
Kizaru for new member of the Bonney pirates!

The reason Strong World happens is because Shiki having that power means he could get away the way he did. The movie doesn't happen in the show because Oda's version of Shiki would never have that power because it's a power he didn't want anyone to use because if you could fly, you don't have to sail, and he wanted a story about people sailing on boats even in the air [like with Enel].

But the movie decided 'hey let's give Shiki floating powers' and so now he has them. It may not be ever shown that Shiki has them if Oda shows him appear, but he now feels like he might have to include that power in some way before the end of the series, despite how it doesn't fit One Piece as he sees it, because even if Shiki having the power is only canon to the movie, both Shiki and the fruit are canon to Oda.

Wasn’t Strong World Oda’s script? And considering stuff like Morgans and the countless people that can use Devil Fruits to move through the air…I don’t think he has that much of an issue with flying honestly.

Tekking explained this beautifully, and I believe it's been backed up: The Float-Float Fruit only affects inanimate objects. And since Shiki has sword legs and what looks like a wheel lodged in his head, it's likely he's affecting only the swords (and possibly the wheel) which gives him the appearance of flight.

Problem solved.

Morgans is an albatross, an infamously flightless bird.
...I wish to meet your ornithology professor. I suspect they are confusing matters relating to the Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

I believe a ship called The Albatross infamously sank. Albatross however can fly even if they prefer to glide and are exceptional at doing so.

Albatross are infamous for their incredibly long flights. Their wing make it a bit awkward on the ground but they are excellent fliers.
You could argue Morgans as an albatross is a reference to the Rime and their long distance flights. His office floats over the seas, he stays aloft largely at the indulgence of the World Government and others. When he turns on them he becomes an albatross about their neck and also struggles to soar so easily as the comfortable thermals he glided on disappear.

The Farms has permanently fucked with my ability to read things as they are. (I can't cut any shorter on mobile, had to white out extra text.)

The SBS is like a window into insanity. The fact that the live action made something coherent is a miracle and a half.
I mean it’s not too much of a surprise. Oda’s costumes are surprisingly simple when you get down to it, especially in East Blue.

Oda works on ‘distinctive character designs made out of very basic and easily replicable stuff’

It was never an issue of can they make it coherent, it was always an issue of did the actors care enough to sell it to the audiance.

The fact that the majority of the main cast love the series is probably not an accident knowing how close the director is with the community.

Also, from what I’ve heard, Oda has been pretty hands on. Everything has to go through him, and I believe it’s been said some stuff needed convincing, like the stuff with Garp going after Luffy.
