I'm not an expert on Menlo Church but it hardly seems like a cult. Seems like a very main line possibly liberal, protestant church. Plenty of people who aren’t raised religious troon out .Heads Mallory Ortberg, Tails Aella. Men, don't raise your daughters in a cult.
Yeah the Ortberg's church is bland middle of the road mainline, only might seem conservative at all because of where it's located. It even has a green policy.Im not an expert on Menlo Church but it hardly seems like a cult. Seems like a very main line possibly liberal, protestant church. why is she specifically looking for a rich dude
isn't she already a millionaire herself, and pretty much set for life?
>working (absent 50-70% of the time)

Because she thinks she's an amazing catch and deserves it. One thing that is known about her is that she has a very high opinion of herselfwhy is she specifically looking for a rich dude

Like all women, she believes she deserves a rich husband because she's been lied to all her life. I saw some tweet talking about it, a lot of women see a relationship the way men see a job. They usually have an eye out for one with a better income. But the men who would want her are not the type of men should would want. She's 32, can't take care of herself, will willingly ditch a job because she gets bored no matter how much money she makes from it, thought getting railed by six dudes at once was too low, and has made it clear she has no intention of ever being monogamous.why is she specifically looking for a rich dude

I have to imagine that if I were a wealthy man looking for a partner, the specific phrasing of her first requirement would be incredibly alarming. “Open to kids maybe???”, but it’s #1 on a list she said is ranked by importance. Why the hedging language then? Because she’s trying to appear cool or unconcerned about it. I’m sure she feels like she’s being honest to a fault by writing out the unflattering horseshit, but the deceptive phrasing of that first item should put anyone with any reasoning skills on high alert. I can’t imagine the sort of man who would choose a partner who lists having children as item #1 in importance, then lists about 100 reasons they would make the worlds shittiest child-rearing partner.Has her dating profile / date me doc been posted?

After Destiny totally screwed up his interview with Yudkowsky (almost zero prep, as far as I can tell), I don't expect this to be exactly accurate to reality. Might be funny though!Destiny posted a twenty-minute-long preview of his upcoming podcast with Aella and Aaron Silverbrook:
Watched it sped up.Destiny posted a twenty-minute-long preview of his upcoming podcast with Aella and Aaron Silverbrook:
Simply put in the model an extreme overweighting for the value of humans living. A constant variable will ensure the model never weights anything higher than this while still allowing all alternatives to output different results that can be ranked.- destiny says what if it realizes that it can be more efficient without humans like it wants to make steel more efficiently so it destroys all oxygen in the planet (what lol)
- A I will realize humans could be an adversary and pre-emptively strike
- Aella thinks open.AI will probably contribute to the world ending
I'm not sure what Aella thinks, but I'm pretty sure you can't get to 99% doom and dimondoid bacteria with weights poorly trained on the Internet. A couple of the scientists have recently been talking about AI systems that play games against themselves, but with their base knowledge and simulated environments based on dumps of the Internet. So like the AI system that won at Go, but not starting from scratch.Simply put in the model an extreme overweighting for the value of humans living. A constant variable will ensure the model never weights anything higher than this while still allowing all alternatives to output different results that can be ranked.
Perfect that Aella, our stats expert, didn't even realize this solution.
A sticking point for is the jump between a computer based tool / interface to now it controls everything and we cant stop it and it can just build an army basically. It can build nanotech or anything it wants. Because somehow weve given it control over vast amounts of resources with zero input from us.They're definitely overextrapolating about the near future capabilities of AI like all the dumb journalists. Especially because they don't realize that a lot of this stuff has been going on for a while now but they never had any public front-facing uses like the language models. They're basically buying marketing hype about predictive models with fat databases.
During this part, she keeps trying to find an analogy for AI and how it will change the world and one she uses is the development of agriculture. They discuss this a bit. Destiny thinks people were nomadic hunter gatherer berry eaters until one guy was like woah i can grow a crop and stay in one place and then it was a huge revolution and everyone started farming. It sounds dumb because it’s like he doesn’t realize that farming developed in different areas and different groups and there were nomadic hunter gatherers living concurrent with people who farm ( and i think there are still some out there) because maybe that made more sense for the environment they were in. Farming enough to support a population also requires a lot of work, long term time investment, and certain environmental conditions. it’s not a magic power up that destroys nomadism. Just by creating trash piles humans would be able to begin cultivating plants accidentally if it the environment was hospitable to it.In the first third or so she just basically says AI is dangerous because it’s like *some other big change in the world or humanity that completely changes the paradigm* because she says it is, without explaining any reason? And keeps repeating this.
