UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Speed running an SNP style collapse.

Was there anything about troonery in their manifesto? I didn’t bother to read it.
Usual mealy mouthed stuff that talks about protecting everyone and ensuring dignity but basically when boiled down using their past antics means they will protect women right up until the point where the people they are at risk from is a smaller minority group. At which point they can shut their mouths and take the girl dick.

I described it as a caste system elsewhere and it's really not far off. What those groups forget when voting Labour is that the most protected and favoured class of all are the politicians.

I went into a local independent shop for something this morning, which was staffed by a 50-60 year old woman and one 28-30 year old man. The woman was pointedly remarking on how "today's a very good day", which sparked what I would describe as a conversation between the two of them, towards myself and another customer. The late-20s man said:

From this interaction and after further consideration I am now calling for Total Millennial Death. These are the people calling others "low information voters".
He definitely didn't change that kid's mind, and probably only cemented his desire to vote for Reform even more.

They should be putting those two on the plane to Rwanda.

As Otterly just said, literally open a history book and learn that the upper class hating the middle class and wanting to rape children is not a new problem. Or look up the wiki page for Gilles de Rais.
The "elites" and raping or outright killing children is surprisingly common for all time in all cultures. It's bizarre once you really dig into it and see it's just something rich and powerful people do for some reason.

uMMMM BUT ISN;T, LIKE, FIRING SOMEONE FOR THEIR VOTE AGAINS T THE LAW AND NOT POGGERS??????

So, what do you think's going to happen under Labour? I think Kier understands he got in only because people hated the Conservatives so I think he'll be safe from pushing more progressive/socialist stuff for a while. I worry how they're going to deal with the immigration crisis since it doesn't seem they care much. A person I spoke to fears that the far left wing of the party might grow large enough that the dethrone Kier for not being progressive enough to put someone like Corbyn up.

Depends who you ask to the reasons they do this. Rape is a weapon of war for one thing. My personal take is that to the elites, they believe raping a child, especially a virgin, gives them something they feed off and gain what they perceive as strength from.

I'm a fan of the idea of predictive programming as a way TPTB breadcrumb things and present us with ideas so outlandish, we will forever consider them insane even when they actually happen or come to light. This idea of robbing an innocent of some kind of essence, to feed off, leaving the innocent party irreparably damaged, has been referred to in media more than once. Off to of my head The Dark Crystal is one example.

If you have ever had the misfortune to know a child who has been sexually abused by an adult you'll know exactly what I mean. They might well live an okay life eventually but their life will forever be changed and they will never have their old self back. In doing that you take something from them which will never be restored.

First two articles in the papers this morning I saw:
Starter shuts down Rwanda deal
Automatic speed limiters for all cars
Marching to the pit we go.
In fairness the Rwanda deal was terrible (we'd be taking in more disabled Rwandan refugees than we'd be exporting refugees) and the speed limiters are a result of Regulation (EU) 2019/2144 - they'll only be mandatory in Northern Ireland, but it's likely manufacturers won't bother making special vehicles that don't have them just for Great Britain (and any vehicle manufacturers here will need to use them for vehicles/parts going to the EU). The good news is the speed limiter is actually just an AI that yells at you for driving too fast, and you have to be able to switch it off (in case it gets confused by inclement weather), it just has to automatically switch back on every time you start an engine. This is something the last government was fully aware of but journalists didn't bother reporting on.

Parliament doesn't sit again until Tuesday. I think we'll start seeing legislation faster than normal, as Keir arranged training with the Institute for Government with his shadow cabinet, and some of them arguably have more experience as ministers than the most recent cabinet.

Nothing coherent. They promised to implement the Cass review in full, but then said they were going to make changing legal gender easier and ban "conversion therapy". So, again, who knows.

My blackpilled view is that he's going to let rip, doing all the crazy shit that his backbenchers want, because the odds are very good that he loses the next election regardless. Next time he'll have lost votes from his already low base of 34%, because Governments usually do, and there's almost certainly going to be at least some sort of pact between the Conservatives and Reform.

It’s not just the backbenchers, it’s the unions. Now if there’s a train strike they can threaten to withhold funding if they don’t get their own way.

It got to the stage when Miliband was in charge of the opposition that unions were practically writing Labour manifestos and it got really batshit.

Or Corbyn, who wanted to scrap Trident, then the unions kicked off as a lot of jobs really on the nuclear subs, so he proposed to just have the subs sail around but with no nuclear weapons on. Or how he was going to reopen the coal mines, and when told that would breach his own green policies, he’d just pay people to dig coal that wouldn’t be used.

The adults lost control of Labour a long time ago. I’m rally surprised they’re not openly infighting and trying to get rid of Starmer already.

Imagine unironically calling pakis Asian. Fucking leftists living in their little bubbles lecturing everyone else on how racist they're allowed to be.

Yes, we fucking mind the EU immigrants as well. There are multiple levels of disruption the immigrants cause but most of all you dumb faggots don't understand how disruptive even the Polish immigrants are. They're like gypsies that don't speak English and act in all the same ways. Having your town taken over by any foreign group is a major problem and Polish people are often as violent if not more violent than the niggers because they all have macho egos and drinking problems. If you see a bunch of Eastern Europeans approaching you have to be on your guard as much as you do a pack of niggers. They're all feral with fragile egos looking to cause trouble and lumping them in with western Europeans is insulting to the civilized parts of Europe.

And no, the working class doesn't "Accept the odd one". They want absolutely none of them and don't tolerate them. That's why they have to mass import them all at once to form enclaves for protection. Which then turns into tribal warfare rather than a paki getting his teeth kicked in repeatedly until he fucks off to London. Hate speech laws were brought in for a reason and you don't need laws to protect people who are welcomed.

There was a “don’t call me Asian” movement years ago. It got memory holed when when they realised is was based Sikh and Hindu bros not wanting to be associated with Muslims.

Channel 4 most effected.

Are you a Yank or something? Everyone always called brown people Asian, because that's who we had. The much smaller East Asian community got called Orientals before that word got cancelled.
We can tell you're a green party voter form the utter bullshit you spew like this. No, we don't call them "Asian" because they're not fucking Asian. Asians are ching chongs and they are quite easy to tell the difference from a child rapist in a suicide vest. The BBC and labour/green voters call them Asian to hide crime statistics, everyone else calls them by their ethnicity or "indian" if they have no idea.

You are completely out of touch with reality.

Asian is just newspeak for 'paki' at this point. If they're indian, they specify the dammed region of India they are from, and if they're non paki asian, we sometimes even get their city of origin. Asian is for when some dull eyed paki, with fluid on his brain, and horrible skin diseases has yet again raped a 7 year old in broad daylight within clear view of the police.
