Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
You can call Wendigoon a hypocrite and I wholeheartedly agree with you, but you go off the rails and try to act like Wendigoon is some grand evil in a horror scene ruining everything. He's pro-censorship? How is he pro censorship, because he isn't a fan of Child Abuse in Media sometimes? Why does he owe Urban Spook and Rob a defense, he didn't send his fans after them, did he? The Tranny he "endorsed" said Art the Clown was bad, which is his fault how, Because he didn't immediately call them a Child raping degenerate? This is the exact kind of stuff Zane/IPOS said in his video, but instead of "Wendigoon is evil because he's friends with Donut Operator and likes guns" its "Wendigoon is evil because he isn't getting into constant internet slap fights with people and doesn't drop someone the instant they do something I deem bad"
"Wendigoon isnt in the streets screaming and demanding total nigger death!!!! Hes a spineless pussy!!!!"

The problem with SCP is that, for the most part, a large section of recent and semi-recent entries are just a tale that's been haphazardly twisted into becoming an entry rather than an anomalous object/event/creature. Take my favorite SCP, 273, you have a ticket-like object, it can be found and picked up by anybody, and basically sends you to Hell/Limbo if you use it as a normal ticket. Simple, concise, and very creepy.

Take another good entry, SCP-5000. SCP-5000 was made for a contest, and thus it is 90% a tale and 10% a regular SCP article. The problem is that nowadays, most articles are made on the image of 5000 rather than on 273's, which makes the site feel more like a place where people write their spooky supernatural fanfics than RP'ing as an organization that's tasked with securing said anomalies.

And that's without getting into the absolute dogshit "entries" like the Tumblr asteroid one, which marked that SCP no longer was only losing its sense of self, but that it was losing any semblance of quality altogether
As it's been stated by many here and elsewhere on top of what i've been trying to read personally a lot of the newer entries are long winded. The issue is when everyone is a storyteller nobody is and you just get all these convoluted and contrived stories that internconnect in retarded ways and it ruins the sort of shitposty but also tongue in cheek nature of the website but again it's been stated. These new artsy type writers take/took themselves too seriously so what we get is everyone trying to write their own stupid novel as new SCP entries and it is boring when in reality a facility like this wouldn't even wanna deal with a long document of research and entries since the concise nature would be easy to archive.

TL;DR it has been LONG forgotten the point of SCP and what made it neat when the tumblr crowd took over and started writing themselves and their dumb ocs into everything as they do with anything they get their hands onto.

I personally dread the trope of 'the flesh betrays you'.
There's a neat claymation body horror series that works on this idea - it's the Deform series by nariomarudarkside on YouTube. The grisly and gruesome transformations are placed front and center, but they're accompanied by the idea that no matter how horrific the changes are, as well as how little the final result even resembles a human, it would appear that the person who transformed retains some degree of their humanity, but it's locked away inside of the mind of the new creature they became.

(...) Just regular body horror but your mind is intact. Just existing and being perfectly conscious of what something or someone else is doing with your body or how it twists and reshapes it for its means.

(...) other intelligence occupies your body and uses it.

I think most people struggle to imagine something as massive as true cosmic horror, but all you need is a couple of minutes doubting your own body to go insane without anything actually happening.

For all its flaws, Darktide nailed this trope really well. A huge chunk of the enemies you face in the game are regular civilians slowly losing control of their own bodies, rotting away at an advanced pace.

At early stages of infection they constantly cry, laugh, sob and act rabid. They weep as they feel maggots inside their ears and something crawling in their thoughts, pushing them to violence. Wearing nothing but rags, they're cold and hungry, but at this point can barely act on their needs, only able to mumble to themselves. They audibly struggle as whatever primordial force is forcing them to murder. They spawn in hordes and rush you down relentlessly, which translates to a sea of pathetic husks of human beings, wearing rags, bathrobes, ruined jackets, begging you to kill them. It's juxtaposed by their rabid growling and uncontrollable, forced laughter.

At late stages they turn into shambling zombies overtaken by disease, unable to do anything of their own volition but screech and spasm. Some of them act as suicide bombers, implanted with explosives inside their stomachs and grenades hooked to their skin. It's morbid to imagine that beneath all that a conscience still remains. Each person suffered for days as their regular life turned into a living, unavoidable nightmare.
The voice actors really outdid themselves, their crying is still giving me goosebumps.

System Shock 2 had a similar idea for their enemies as well. I really like how they handled The Many, it's a hive mind that doesn't hate you but tries to persuade you to its body horror cause. The infected humans are warning you to run away or beg you to end their suffering.

Yeah? Well, my other favourite series, Arcadia TV, is also back.
What are you going to do about that Toji Suzuhara from Neon Genesis Evangelion in the Kiwi Farms.
Watch the one that has the most NGE references first, of course. Does Arcadia TV have NGE references?

Reminds me of this manga I started reading recently, called Hour of the Zombie. It's not great, I feel because of its adherence to typical Japanese tropes, highschool setting, and character archetypes, but the premise is really interesting.

One day, suddenly a zombie outbreak starts. All the usual things happen, some people start going feral, the bitten quickly turn, some people get fully eaten, some zombies are killed, etc.
The twist, however, is that as quickly as it started, it passes. All the zombies regain sanity and control, some having sustained injuries and even disfiguration, but otherwise they're all normal. So now the people who did and did not turn have to come to terms with what they did, and what others did to them, during the crisis.
The double twist then is that shortly after, they lose control again and turn back into zombies. It turns out that the infection activates and deactivates in about 30 minute intervals.
So you've got various factions forming, from uninfected who want to save their infected friends, or uninfected who want to restrain or even kill the infected as prevention; and the infected, some of who want to prevent themselves from hurting others, or those who fear they're gonna be dehumanized, rounded up and killed while they're out of control.
And everyone has to make the best use they can of the 30 minute intervals they have to advance their respective agendas, which leads to things like groups alternating between being hunters and preys as the infection turns on and off.

It's a very interesting concept, but as stated, the extremely shallow and stereotypical manga characters ruin the potential.
Still, it has its moments.

The Scagdead from Resident Evil Revelations is another horrifying example. A semi conscious rotting body is hanging from a walking flesh abomination. He is still talking to the characters when the monster that grows on his body is attacking.

The Resident Evil series in general is, as we all know, a body horror treasure trove.

There was a very short horror video game that played with this setting. Another one with a similar theme but with a parasitic twin is Covetous, a flash game where you play as the tumor. Body horror is something that evokes disgust, fear and morbid curiosity and can be quite effective at being terrifying.

Edit: Found it, it's called "Discover My Body".
The creator of this game is Yames and all his games are good.

Wendipooner did a whole video praising Blood Meridian which explored themes of child killing and pedophilia as a mainstream. Along with doing a podcast with someone who made a career out of child abuse jokes. Both are demanding horror to stop being so edgy. Yes. Very much is pro-censorship.

Do you have any evidence that they're saying that horror must be censored beyond cringing at edgelord shit, or are you just yapping like when you said this?

when Troons he endorsed went after people in horror, such as the creator Art the clown
Like I watched the video that Nyx made about Art out of curiosity and they were just acting like one of those pretentious film snobs and was actively talking about Terrifier 2 positively in an "ironic" enjoyment of shitty horror movies.

The only thing they went after the creator for is telling them to make more "shitty" horror movies, rather than cancel.

Like holy shit you're acting no better than that schizo soyboy who said Wendigoon is an evil alt righter for hanging around guntubers and people who know people that know Rittenhouse.
