UK Sunak elevates doctor Hilary Cass to House of Lords in final act of premiership - Trannies seething as author of Cass Review nominated to House of Lords

Rishi Sunak has honoured Dr Hilary Cass OBE, the author of Cass Review, as one of two crossbench peers in his dissolution honours list.

The Jewish doctor is not party affiliated. Her nomination to the House of Lords has been announced along with a sleuth of Tory honours, including former prime minister Theresa May.

Awarded an OBE for services to child health in 2015, Cass has been at the top of the medical profession for over a decade. The paediatrician recently headed up the Cass Review into NHS gender identity services for children and young people.

The report, published in April this year, raised concerns about trans healthcare provision, noting that the clinical approach used by the Gender Identity Development Service "has not been subjected to some of the usual control measures."

When the report was released, NHS England said it would pause first appointments at adult clinics for teenagers under 18 and set out its plans to conduct a major review of its adult gender services and use of hormones. Rishi Sunak urged "extreme caution" about gender treatments.

Dr Cass’s review found that there was "remarkably weak evidence" to support gender treatments for children and noted the "toxicity of the debate".

She made 32 recommendations, including that gender services operate "to the same standards" as other children's health services.

The report prompted a furious debate about trans healthcare.

After its publication, Cass said that she stopped using public transport on the advice of security officials.

Cass’s Jewish identity became clear when she co-signed an open letter after October 7 affirming her “Jewish values”, including her commitment to the existence of Israel and the two-state solution.

Prior to her work on the report, Cass was Head of the School of Paediatrics in London, served as President of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (2012-2015), Chair of the British Academy of Childhood Disability (2017-2020), Chair of Together for Short Lives and acted as the Senior Clinical Advisor for Child Health for Health Education England.

She remains an honorary Consultant Paediatrician at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, Guy’s & St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust, where she was also previously Director of Education and Workforce and sits as a trustee for Nah’s Ark Children’s Hospice.

She was awarded an honorary fellowship by the Royal College of Nursing in 2015.

The other crossbench peers nominated by Sunak is Minette Batters, the former president of the National Farmers’ Union.

Meanwhile, Labour leader and new Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, nominated eight retiring MPs for peerages, including Dame Margaret Hodge, the former Labour minister who took on Jeremy Corbyn during the antisemitism crisis, and former cabinet ministers Margaret Beckett and Harriet Harman.

I have a theory that akashty (sp?) sunak is not only a TERF extraordinaire but also a mumsnetter and perhaps even aware of here. I imagine she has been bending his ear on this for a while.
This and the SNP wipeout are the best things about this election.
I didn’t know she was Jewish.

yo Otterly

you ve probably followed this shit more than me.

Tell me if i got this right

The dutch protocols were written in the 1990s they focused on a small number of kids that had issues for years.

These protocols were then used to say "the science is true" while the medical establishment sought to pass these peope to specialty clinics

The clinics are ran by perverts

The troon foot soldiers terrorize women.

The police and courts side with the troons, that women are terrorizing them.

The medical establishment has to do its job and review the science, only to find shit that sounds like the work happening in a 1930s nazi concentration camp.

And now for some reason the goverment is forcing a correction?

Would you mind explaining what that means? And could you explain to us non-Brits the importance of these appointment to the House of Lords?
The House of Lords is the second chamber of government, similar but different to the American Senate.

It's function is to review potential laws as created by the lower chamber, commonly known as the House of Commons, these are the elected members of the government, ie the MP's who make up the actual government and opposition.

When the MP's in the lower chamber debate a bill (law) that perhaps says you cannot wear Yellow on the 2nd Monday, they will vote.

That decision will be sent to the upper chamber ( The Lords) for review.
The upper chamber will review it, and either pass it, or send it back down for review or amendment. There is a 2 year time limit.

You don't run for office to be a member of the Lords, you are appointed, mostly by political parties, or by appointment of the monarch via an Honour.
It is supposed to be a non-political, non affiliated chamber.

It's is supposed to be our checks & balances.

There is not a single party backtracking on the war on cars.

Every single one is going to charge you more as soon as this August.
Rishi claimed he would stop LTNs and other minor stuff. Obviously he had zero plans of actually following through with it like everything else the "Conservatives" promise.

So the SNP were popular and now are not popular. They have become single issue (independence for Scotland) which we had a referendum on and voted no. They are also incredibly corrupt and they were putting troons in women’s jails. Awful awful people, and everyone’s delighted they’re out.
Cass is now a Lord, as in, she has a place in the House of Lords. We have a two chamber system. Others have explained it well - it functions as a bunch of usually older people who are more sensible and who can tell the House of Commons to knock it off if they’re being insane. People have criticised the Lord as unelected but I actually think it’s a good system. They tend to act as a brake on insanity. The more based old gits we have in the lords the more often commie list will be told to stop it.

Yes. Very odd isn’t it? Something has happened somewhere in the corridors of power. Peerages are sometimes rewards, which makes it even more interesting. I asked in another thread a while back who is driving this and why. I don’t know but I’d like to

What's especially interesting is that her comments after the review suggested she was done. She made it very clear she would not be involved in the reforms, her job was purely putting together the review and the insinuation is she was sloping off to a quiet retirement.

I'm suspicious that the activist sorts went fully nuts. Not just a few rape and death threats but a non-stop barrage of them, to the degree that the police have said she's at a real risk of being killed. The peerage might be an excuse to provide additional degrees of official protection over and above the norm.
