Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

Superheroes are just worn out there are too fucking many of them parodying, emulating, copying, inspired by, derivative. Once you are able to understand this you are probably too old or smart to enjoy consooming it, so in other words "fuck capeshit".
There's also the pointlessness of stories that ultimately have zero stakes for any of the characters involved.

yeah, they're part of the 10%. that doesn't change the fact that the other 90% looks like this.

My point is that comic characters aren't some pot of OC Donut Steel soup. Superheroes, around the world, are deritive of one another. The "Henshin Hero" appearance of YF's character is so saturated the cultural DNA of Japan; that every city has their own helmet clad mascot. Baseball teams, even a dentist's office advertises dental cleanliness with a henshin hero.

I'm not sure what the intended goal is of saying "That looks like something else." other than to, I guess point out the obvious. Congratulations, you noticed that thing is like another thing.

You wanna cookie?

As for the 'Capeshit' edgelords, please show me the oh-so original and fresh tales involving a fucking cowboy, adventurer, a knight perhaps? As I said before, be daring, do something never done before and put a burnt out cop in a fedora and brown trenchcoat. Be even more original and give him a drinking habit, and maybe a pack of bent cigarettes that he lights with a match that gives off too much smoke when it's blown out. You know, real original stuff.

I hate to break it to you folks, but everything's been done before. Humans have been around for a while now, there's nothing new out there. Just a spin on existing things. Even tech is this way. It's what I tell new creators that wanna talk shop. "You're not gonna create anything new, but you can create something that's totally you." Good or bad, at least it's not a carbon copy of a prexisting idea. That's what the mainstream does.

Here's the thing about most homage/tribute/ripoff characters
What if it isn't that. What if it's some Egyptian thing in WW2 that isn't a tribute, homage, or a ripoff? Sure it's a Tokusatsu looking character, but as I explained above those aren't rare in the world, just in the US. I don't get the vibe that this is a speedster, he looks like a Super Sentai styled hero. Something closer to Garu by the looks of what Dillard has posted.

We'll see but I'm still anticipating a flop.
The reason I care is there aren't a lot of henshin hero style characters in the West. For whatever reason the creatives in Hollywood and Gamerland don't think that a dude wearing a helmet and armor with glowie effects is cool. I dunno. We apparently can take Master Chief seriously, but not a Kamen Rider... It's very strange. So I want to see what Flash, a guy that's inspired by American comics, has to offer the genre of American Henshin Heroes.

I don’t see what the problem here is. Idiot YouTubers bankrolling pro artists and pro writers to work for them making licensed comics sounds no worse to me than IP factories doing the same. Sometimes the work is accidentally decent. If it means paychecks for actual talent, isn’t that the point?

At least YF bothered to hire an editor.

The Neil Gaiman scenario is like an inverse of EVS life.

Neil was a typical comic creator from the 80/90s who bitched about what we all bitch about, "how dare movie people change properties and why don't they just make it faithful!?" A typical attitude for comic people back then frustrated with the terrible "we can turn this comic book trash into something people like" attitude of the adapters back then. He also likely womanized as any man would treating groupie whores like the hoodrats they are. Maybe he had a lefty leaning maybe not.

Wokism hits comics and netflix and Gaiman reads the room becomes a feminist and super lefty (ensuring he has an army of twitter commies to attack his enemies and he will keep getting work from the commies that took over the editorial office) and then when netflix takes his property he is all too happy with the commie-fication.

Fast forward Gaiman is now older and not as useful as he used to be and so it's time to jettison his ass (while keeping the work he did and co-opting it JK rowling style). Gaiman is a typical lefty hypocrite phony who's "time is up", they enjoy eating their own kind over time and Gaiman acting like an evil "cisgender" man will do him in with his cultivated lefty fanbase that kicked out all the right leaning people who wouldn't care about his behavior.

EVS meanwhile was likely not really a trumpy and just as lefty as gaiman but my bet is he treated women the same way but was far less talented than Gaiman and thus less useful and probably more of a dick to work with. EVS didn't read the room and was likely a contrarian so he didn't get on board early with the lefty politics but lucked out with the algorithm streaming about trump. Basically, he was a less talented creator than Gaiman who likely was as big a lowlife he just zigged right instead of left.

Fast forward and Evs is behaving just like Gaiman, shitting on fans that disagree with him as his own fandom implodes and his "own people" call him out for lefty SJW behavior and turn on him.

Both were egotistical scumbags who likely treated all around them like trash when they were in the comics business, think they know better than fans and fans have no right to an opinion, are battling their own political leaning fanbases as they turn out to be hypocrites and traitors to their own ideology, shit on their fans for disagreeing with them.

These creators being online and seeing anything other than their funny pages art and writing of goofy comic characters with the occasional interview has forever ruined comics. EVS thinks you now have to be a "personality" code for dickhead online, to sell comics. Knowing these people and their opinions makes me not want to consume their comics, especially knowing they hate me.

Manga tend to be super action oriented, facial expressions are one-note and cartoony compared to what we prefer in the West. It is an interesting cultural difference in that the Japanese focus more on eyes than any other feature because they actively mask their emotions everywhere else. They can get away with it mostly due to their grasp of form and action, which is far above the average western comic book artist. Personally, I don't like the cartoony doll eyes look but if the story and action is good enough I can bypass it.

I might be speaking from an American bias, but I think the most successful superheroes need that ability to emote, which also explains why even masked characters usually have partially masked/unmasked variants or strong alter egos. Batman is the prototypical stoic character, but having the mouth express the occasional rage-filled punch goes a long way even if we never got to see Bruce Wayne. You might think Judge Dredd would be an exception to this, but that highly stylized lower jaw does all the important work. Expressionless helmeted characters like Red Hood or pre-MCU Iron Man weren't/aren't the most popular. They even gave Spidey's mask an ability to show some of his personality early on. It's probably the one thing supervillains actually benefit from that their counterparts don't. Snake Eyes might be the only exception to the rule.

Master Chief? Well he started out as the character you got to play as, so what he looked like didn't matter much. The interactivity guided you along the story. He wouldn't have worked nearly as well as a comic book character first.

Neal Gaiman never fooled me with his nice guy act. I remember reading an issue of SANDMAN and, finding it to be warmed-over Alan Moore SWAMP THING, didn't buy another issue. Then people were insisting I give it another try, so I checked out THE KINDLY ONES. I got so annoyed by the way the author was trying to tell the reader what a nice guy he is that I threw it against the wall. The allegations against him are probably bullshit, but couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

I found him to be overrated and pretentious too but he added to the tapestry of a diverse landscape, he just didn't warrant the acclaim he got. Wish there was more actual diversity of style (not nonsense diversity) like him these days and it was just seen as common art.

As far as the allegations, considering the bar he set for himself no matter what happened he's likely "guilty" and deserves to fuck off. These people live by the sjword they can die by it. Same way I feel about Shane losing his channel, if they could deplatform their enemies they would. These fuckers deserve no quarter, I hope sandman gets cancelled over it and all his shit that is in production gets cancelled. I doubt it though, they'll just remove his name most likely.

And in truth I do think anything with these chicks was likely them trying to fuck their way to relevance and now that it didn't work decades later they'll try and cry their way in. Either way I am glad it's happening to him. I wish this for a long line of artists from DeNiro to mark ruffalo. Screw them all.

Neil Gaiman's work is the proto-woke and it often has red flags in it. A lot of drug crimes, sex crimes and the like happen in there. You've got the main protagonist who creeps into women while they sleep. He didn't read any room he was always with the leftist movement back from the beginning and went all in on feminism. Vox wrote a great blog on Sigma Game about him.

Fortunately, Neil himself gave us instructions on how to handle this situation:

On the flip side, we have a complete media blackout covering for him. My inside industry sources tell me it's ordered and coordinated. You won't find any talk on this on Bleeding Cool, Comics Beat or anywhere else like that. He's full rockstar to the whisper network and they'll protect him. Interesting times.

I always hated his writing as well. I thought he and Alan Moore and even Frank Miller are responsible for the destruction of comics from a style perspective. I wrote an op ed back in 2017 about it.

And that's a large part of why I'm here. Styliscially, I hate what the grimdark edgelord comic industry became even before that style morphed into wokeism. The best comics were done by the likes of Chuck Dixon, Tom DeFalco and Steve Dikto who rejected these trends. Before that, Carl Barks, Arnold Drake, Alex Toth, Will Eisner. A lot of the CG crowd is too dumb to understand the concept of regressing harder to the pulp eras because they want to look at 90s nostalgia bait rebranded. But the tides are turning some as people are recognizing an actual vision with leadership of how to change culture for real.

The only vision is tunnel vision. If you see a light, run for it. The only future is paying premium prices for comic books with no guarantees or quality control. Celebrity TikToker Comix incoming. Nice propaganda piece though!

Cool.

I would bother to explain how Henshin Heroes is a genre in manga too.
But I have a feeling it's a wasted subject in this thread.

I guess we'll have to wait and see what excuses are made to justify brushing off YellowFlash's book as unworthy to exist.
I'm sure they'll be well thought out.

Not only do they hate you, but they go out of their way to make sure that you can't earn a living in your own lane. Gaiman was always one of the first to dogpile on any misbehavior from a right-of-center personality (Hollywood or Gubment).

GUYS! It is not a rip-off, it is just in the same genre. Tokusatsu Henshin Hero. Are we going back in the days where we called FPS games "DOOM clones"?

You were saying?

I guess we can blame Saban's marketing team for pounding it so thoroughly into the frontal lobes of Westerners that only 1 trademarked group can wear a helmet and spandex---yet the entirety of American comics requires blatant and loud IP theft to survive and stay relevant.

Oh well, so much unique and thrilling stories to be told about a cowboy, or an adventuerer, or maybe---and this is pretty far out there---a detective. Oooo, haven't ever seen that you know. Maybe he can wear a fedora, and something unheard of, like a biege trench coat. Oh! ---and carry a revolver! That'll raise the stakes! Only 6 shots you know. Very manly.

If we're going to insist on total originality, we must accept that it will be unrecognizable to the human eye. That may not even be a shape we as humans can even see. Maybe a 4th dimensional concept.

But until then, there are 7 human stories. We put spins on them and combine them; but there's only 7.
Maybe when this mythologicaltotal and absolute original comic makes itself known, we can change that to 8.

I was making a general statement on manga, but the big eye thing won't apply to the YF project. The bike helmet will though. If he's selling it to Japanese, maybe he'll find success. It's looking like a dud though, sorry to burst bubbles!

First step to being a success is proving the skeptics wrong. If he's done his homework, he should be able to anticipate some of these qualms ahead of time and if he is destined to be a real pro, he absolutely has to be able to respond constructively to critique. If all he is is an idiot with enough money to throw at people to make meaningless comics, please let him go away forever.

I know for a fact frog was not cancelled from the farms, I know for a fact he did not loose his password. I know for a fact @EVS tried to recruit this thread into his personal army, and about half you faggots are no doubt.

@FROG this thread is here, you had control of it for "years" Come correct the narrative, clear the air.

@FROG what is the plan going forward? doing draw streams with the same Brute image for another 6 months? what's the play? as an investor I need to know what the trade mark owner of Cg is planning for the next 2 quarters before I am willing to invest capital.

I guess we'd better not discuss YellowFlash's book in here.
We could discuss your book since we are on the subject of power rangers. for real you JDA cuck, if the long game is to word salad the comicsgate thread on kiwifarms into your boring into comics and fandom menace conservacuck 2016 red meat, fuck right off!
