It didn't really become obvious it was cocaine instead of some other stimulant until he was routinely taking "bathroom breaks" and coming back visibly wired. That it was a stimulant of some sort was pretty obvious but it wasn't until he was obviously getting a boost nearly instantly that you could necessarily say for sure it was cocaine. Sure it's possible to snort up or smoke meth or prescription pills but cocaine was the most likely culprit at that point.
