We almost had this happen a grand total of once, when it came down to the election of Rutherford B. Hayes.

At the time, Reconstruction was on its last legs, but there were still some states with Reconstruction government, and both the Republican who controlled the military governments running those states and the Democrats hoping to get rid of them sent in two different sets of electors.

The Constitution doesn't allow for this, but neither side was going to back down on assuming their electors were legit, so a special commission was held to decide whose electoral votes would count, and Hayes eventually won out.

The Democrats still weren't going to accept that and were prepared to stonewall the process as much as possible, to the point we nearly had another civil war.

At the last minute, sanity prevailed, a deal was struck, and Hayes was elected with the proviso he finished taking down what remained of Reconstruction, and the Democrats would be happy with that.

As applied to modern day, the Democrats don't have any leverage to use like they did then, and even then common sense won out over feels and they did the smart thing, and this time round, they will be making the Trump supporters just as rabid as the sore losers on the Hillary side if they decide to go full exceptional individual, so there is no way the salt spewers are getting Trump out via the electoral vote process.

To be fair, this was back when the two parties represented their polar opposites in ideals.

It really shows how self-absorbed Wu is, when they eagerly go off to every speaking arrangement at every event or convention stupid enough to ask Wu to speak (which as we all know is a speech about how important a feminist game dev Wu is), but despite trying out journalism now almost certainly will not go 'report' on the Trump inauguration as there's nothing in it for Wu's gain.

As a side note, it's funny how Flynt's life is just one big continuous circle of subjects, loosely, right from the earliest known confirmed point we've recorded of this individual's history. It went from journalism degree, to republican intern, to attempted media mogul with SOCCON radio show/animation studio, back to I think another attempt at the journalism degree, then pretty much the point of gender change was when Wu focused on this insane game development thing for the next evolution of Soccon/Election Eve, then back to journalism for less than a month, finally back to politics.

So, depending on how things work out in this stupid politics phase, Holiday vs. Minuette's next evolution may be on the horizon, or it'll be a retreat back to yellow journalism.
