Not much of a gachafag usually but I've been enjoying this a lot, incredible visuals and the game has a lot of fun little details and quirks that give it that "soulful™" feel to it which I am shocked China has become capable of producing at this point. Seems like it's been pretty polarizing since the combat isn't all that deep but it's still feels great to play just on a visceral level thanks to the animations and feedback it provides. Anyone else playing?

As with all Hoyoverse games, the porn is good.
Yeah the Nicole stuff really hit the ground running, I feel like the game hit a really good balance of tantalizing, it's not obnoxiously in your face or hard-relying on it but isn't afraid to indulge either

I thought of trying it out since I do agree that the visuals are pretty good as if it has an actual art direction instead of just generic animeslop, but it being a gacha AND from Hoyo makes it tough to play.
Playing a Hoyo game is just a losing game because even if you're playing for the anime girls, their designs and models will get toned down over time, and this game even had that happen to it already before it released.

Unfortunately always a possibility but the sex appeal is pretty baked in even with the censorship it got hit with already, I think this will be a case of the devs trying to add in as much as possible under the censor's noses as opposed to games where the devs do it eagerly for brownie points

I've posted my thoughts in the Genshin thread already.

I have since progressed to Chapter 3.

Combat, mechanics wise is very basic, it just feels fun because they did a great job with audio and visual impact on your hits.

The overworld has been the most pleasantly surprising thing for me. It is full of fun little easter eggs and lots of detail, I am shocked that Hoyo actually tried with the NPCs in this game, giving them unique looks and outfits and not just same guy but with a different shirt.

I'm likely going to keep playing for now, should be a pretty easy one to maintain since it's not open world. I really hope they listen to the feedback about the TV segments and UI.

I'm hoping/expecting it to evolve over time, although they seem to be focusing a lot on different kinds of modes/goals/rule sets to make up for the raw combat being so simple so they might just keep going that route.
My biggest issue is the lack of a jump button, that really removes a lot of potential from movesets and mechanics both for the player and enemies.

You will never be a real game. You have no save states, you have no offline mode, you have no modability. You are a live-service twisted by transsexuals and suits into a crude mockery of gamers' perfection.

All the “validation” you get is two-faced and half-hearted. Behind your back players mock you. Your devs are disgusted and ashamed of you, your playtesters laugh at your ghoulish appearance behind closed doors.

Gamers are utterly repulsed by you. Thousands of years of gameplay have allowed gamers to sniff out scams with incredible efficiency. Even live-services who “pass” look uncanny and unnatural to a gamer. Your account sign-in is a dead giveaway. And even if you manage to get a drunk gamer home with you, he’ll turn tail and bolt the second he gets a whiff of your always-online, microtransactions cash shop.

You will never be satisfied. You wrench out a fake smile every single morning and tell yourself it’s going to be ok, but deep inside you feel the end-of-service creeping up like a weed, ready to crush you under the unbearable weight.

Eventually it’ll be too much to bear - you’ll shut down, write an announcement, put it around your neck, and kill the servers. Your devs will find you, heartbroken but relieved that they no longer have to pay the servers for another money laundering scheme. They’ll bury you with a name on Wikipedia marked with your IP, and every passerby for the rest of eternity will know a live-service is shut down. Your servers will be replaced and will go back to byte data, and all that will remain of your legacy is the leftover data in a hard drive before deletion.

This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no turning back.

It's unfortunately this game can be played on mobile phones, by that I mean it has to be playable on phones. If you wanna add more buttons, even like jumping, that would be like never. Even HSR game itself has part making fun of itself having no jump button, and that game has criticized as bare boned JRPG with only two action choices in combat. I'd say don't expect combat evolve much, but new characters may bring new benefit that changes or adds new meta.

But it isn't impossible if they'll add like a character with their EX move as a "jump" attack, FF dragoon dive type not air combo juggling in the future. Considering Genshin already has a few characters are specialized in that, plunging. Also in game right now, if Koleda and Ben are in the same team, then Koleda basic attack has part where she jumps, her hitbox is actually in the air she won't get hit by some ground attack or few slam causing ground shockwave from bosses.

I wouldn't count on air juggling because Hoyo won't let you crowd control on elite enemies and bosses. Random mooks are too squishy overall for your main dps character. Nicole for now is the only one has a bit of crowd control on her black hole EX skill. Even Zhuyuan has smaller black hole version with her combo attack, if you've reached Chapter 2 interlude mission that is.

I generally ignore tranny brainrot but I will use this as an excuse to post a really good one since there's a surprising amount already.

My main issue with most gacha games is how the pacing is absolutely fucked and by the end you care more about the memes than the story, it isn't helped that Mihoyo has some retarded multiverse shit in it.
One thing I've been enjoying about ZZZ actually is how low stakes the story has been so far, main and side stories so far have just been following a brother and sister running a video shop who do proxy work behind the scenes. They are obviously hinting at grander things to come but so far they really nailed the feeling of day to day work while still being interesting.

I could have sworn Genshin had jumping but every single combo video I just looked up quick doesn't involve it so yeah I guess it's just the nature of the platform, I really wonder what the ratio of people who play these games on consoles to mobile are, they gotta be a bitch to run on phones but I know in Asia most of their gaming is done on train rides to work lol

The only reason i installed ZZZ is because i want to see more Billy Kid content. The rest are just generic.
I'm really grateful he's way less awful in game than he was in the promotional material, I thought he was going to be a Deadpool clone in all the worst ways possible

I included it because Mihoyo hates mods and have banned people for using mods, odd especially for a game that is mostly singleplayer.
I think it's because some of their games sell skins and they don't want people just modding in the skin for free, but apparently unless you outright post a screenshot of a mod with your ID in it they very rarely hit anyone for it.
