I remember last year I was working in America for the summer. I was in Boston and a combination of it being really expensive and me being a solo traveller meant that I never found proper accomodation to rent, so I ended up staying in a hostel. I was probably the outlier in that I was there for two months while most people came and went. I usually didn't talk to too many people, but there was one day I came back and everyone had gathered in a living room and were talking so I decided to join in. Most people were around my age; in their 20s just travelling around. But there was this Hispanic guy from LA in his 40s or 50s who was among the most talkative. He talked about how he'd previously been a cop and I guess he was now just drifting a bit. I distinctly remember him saying "I just like getting with younger girls because they have my energy; like we get to go out to concerns and shit" and talked about how he never wanted kids, but then he said he had one anyone who I guess was just out there somewhere while he tried getting 19-24 year old pussy.
If Dax wants to be that kind of guy, I'm sure we'd all think it was pathetic but the fact that he wants to have his cake and eat it by trying to be that kind of guy while still in this long-term relationship with Marie. I don't even know why he didn't at least marry her. Is it just that it goes against the "Dick Masterson" persona because obviously once you agree to marriage you're inviting the possibility of being divorce raped? I agree with you that not everyone needs to be in a trad relationship, but I feel like at this point in his life he should either go the whole mile or not at all. At this point their grievances are so stupid and miniscule when they try to explain their issue people look at them like they're crazy.
