I think being an edgy Christian maverick is part of his identity that fuels muh ODD. The other part is he wants to keep his remaining fanbase pacified. Fair enough. I do agree that he clearly hates living out there, and maybe he originally went along with it for Our Wife, but he has lots of options to remedy that situation that most people don't, so I don't feel sympathy for him. I know you do feel it, but part of being married, much like being a lawyer practicing law, is negotiating situations that affect the marriage. He is 12 miles from Willmar which is a decent size regional city in the area. He isn't THAT rural and nearly everything to do with the kids is going to be in the Willmar area.

His real driving problems were to do with buying cocaine (4 hour round trip), selection in available prostitutes in his area, and that the gay bays at pure pleasure were a 2-hour round trip again. His other problem is that is a totally lazy lay-about junkie. He once described how wearing clothes was a terrible life burden for him.

His family, both paternal and maternal side, is from Texas and they only moved due to his father getting a well paying job in Minnesota. In terms of Melanie's noseguarding; she was fairly removed from the whole thing when it all went down in May. She didn't really have much connection to Nick other than she knew people that knew Nick. So she just happened to see random stuff people tagged her on in Xitter and was merely saying "Wow, that's terrible, praying for all involved for a good resolution," type of platitudes, that I think generally most people would have seeing this stuff in passing and she got dumped on pretty hard for that. I thought the reaction to her saying that was pretty harsh, because for your exact reasoning; she was naive of the situation and just offering that she hopes for a good outcome for all those involved.
