It legitmately pisses me off that the fucking ps3, where almost most of the library is multiplats that are on pc or had exclusives that are on ps4 now aside from tokyo jungle,puppeteer and MGS4. How come the ps2 emulation scene is a joke compared to the ps3?

Sony hasn’t had a major presence at the show since 2019

Sony Interactive Entertainment will attend the “largest ever” Tokyo Game Show, it has been announced.
The trade show, which will take place in September, will see 731 exhibitors and 3190 booths. The show will take place in the Makuhari Messe in Mihama-ku, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture.
Sony was present at Tokyo Game Show 2023, but only presented independent titles as part of its involvement in the show. Capcom, Konami, and other large Japanese publishers have also been announced as attendees of this year’s show.

It is currently unclear what Sony plans to exhibit at the show, as its largest currently announced titles, such as Astro Bot, will have been released by the time the show takes place.
It is expected that a quarter of a million visitors will attend the show when it takes place from September 26 until September 29.
The PlayStation maker’s attendance was under question following recent news that it has reportedly decided not to attend Gamescom 2024.
Sony most recently appeared at Gamescom in 2019, which was the last in-person edition of the show before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Sony recently said it expects PS5 hardware sales to decline during its current year, which runs to March 2025, and confirmed it plans to release no “major existing franchise titles” during this 12-month period.

It used a State of Play presentation in May to announce launch dates for 2024 releases, including Concord (August 23), Astro Bot (September 6) and the PC version of God of War Ragnarök (September 19).

I know this is pure copium at this point but I'm hoping they finally announce the long awaited Bloodborne remaster for PC/PS5 at Tokyo Game Show. It would certainly make up for how lame and disappointing the PS5 has been.

There is zero legitimate reason to tie that to Microsoft's systems. The only reason they've done it is to implement game-wide account bans starting in MC 1.19. It's complete horseshit and a great reason to stay on 1.18 or older.

It's money. The more data they have on you, in this case 2fa, the more data they can sell.

May 2024 content spending fell 3% compared to a year ago to $3.6B, as 13% growth in Mobile content spending could not offset a 40% drop in Console content spending. (Mobile spending totals provided by Sensor Tower).

May video game hardware spending declined 40% when compared to a year ago, to $202M, and is now 30% lower YTD. Through May, all current generation hardware platforms are showing double-digit percentage declines year-on-year in 2024, with Switch showing the most significant drop.

I probably bought half as many Switch physical games as last year and even that was far less than the year before, there's not much coming out.

I would kill a small country for a Bloodborne remaster and Miyazaki said its in Sony's court not FromSofts as they have distribution rights etc.

I assume they are going to push JRPGS hard because the sales in Japan have been dire.

Physical is nice, but let's face it, most games download a bunch of updates anyway these days. The ideal is something like GOG, where you can make DRM-free backups of the full game you purchased, and I hate to say it, but to Sony's credit, they are releasing some titles on GOG.

I just wish they were worth playing.
