Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Hit the nail on the head. Impotent boomer politisperg shows that don't actually say anything but "wow, imagine if this were reversed!" should be laughed at into cancellation every time. None of them have whatever secret sauce Mike Judge used while making King of the Hill, because King of the Hill is a great watch whether you care for the politics or not.

From what I hear he didn't hit the mark with the more leftward equivalent show (The Goode Family), but I've not seen it myself so take it with a grain of salt.
What Mike Judge did with King of the Hill is that he just knew to make an entertaining show first and also have Hank admit he was wrong.

I am not very conservative myself, but Hank is a pretty admirable character since he's just a simple man who is pretty likeable but still a funny man. He can be both in the right and wrong, and is willing to concede while still sticking to his principles.

I know that's a lot to say about one character, but compare that to Mr. Birchum, New Norm, and a lot of shows that focus on being "conservative entertainment" and all of them have unlikeable protagonists who are dicks and are meant to be seen as in the right no matter what because they say the right talking points.

Its kind of like why Lisa Simpson is an insufferable character because we're expected to always agree with whatever dumb shit she says because she is supposed to be seen as the "smartest".

The simple fact is that King of the Hill worked because it was entertaining, had a good cast of characters that were flawed people, and never really casted anyone as always in the right or wrong.

Compare that to Lisa-centric Simpsons episodes and these conservative cartoons (and any politically motivated show) where we have to just always agree without question with whatever is being said.

As a side note, for Mr. Birchum, the best example of how fucking bad it is can be seen in the first episode where Birchum has children work at his house without their parents knowledge and is still seen as the good guy compared to the liberal strawman who is presented as an evil guy sheltering children for finding it weird that a teacher is basically enforcing child labor on his property and doing it with no awareness to the parents.

Groening's "Life in Hell" is mostly about the rabbit kid character going on overwrought tangents about why he's smarter than everyone else for caring about "injustices", it's very much what a comic made by Lisa Simpson would be like. Its funny how barely involved Matt Groening was in the Simpsons besides creating them but gets all the credit when people like Brooks, Swartzwelder, Mike Scully etc. actually made the show what it was, back when. If the Simpsons had been written like "Life In Hell" it probably would have barely been on the air before getting cancelled.

Then there was something narwhal this way cones. Narleen narwhal was already hated having been a character who was originally from the hated Kamp koral spinning off but the episode that tried to integrate her into the show well...I don't know if it's different for others but these videos were side by side and 8 results down after searching spongebob narleen narwhal on YouTube.

Plus I think narleen has an entry on wiki feet...this show essentially became another nickelodeon fetish factory after Stephen died.

Hot take, but I think that modern SpongeBob is worse than season 6-7.

Good point. It doesn't make sense that God would need to be "rehabilitated", so he can "connect" with humans; they're His creation, if anything it should be the other way around.

There was a show years ago called God, The Devil, and Bob that handled religion well in a way that was humorous, but not insulting. Shame it only lasted 13 episodes.
It sounds like the usual taking god as an avatar of your actual father "Fuck you dad, destroying my body with drugs and abortions made me a better person!".

Not a hot take at all, Season 10+ and the spin-offs are absolutely worse than the bulk of Seasons 6-8.

Not according to most cartoon spergs, a lot of them kept saying that season 10+ are as good as pre-movie, even after Hillenburgh's death.

Their opinion is very biased because a lot of old writers returned after the second movie.

Heard This shows been compared to haileys on it but not only is it objectively better but I've heard some claim it was in production before Hailey.

But see this is what I'm talking about. Saving g me is funded by a Mormons both the church and a Mormons college and it's actually a decent show...OK at the very least.

Conservative animation is a two face coin. When they make cartoons for kids and strictly kids they tend to be at best average if not harmless for their target audience at worst mediocre or rip-offs of what IS popular in the mainstream.

When they're made with vitriolic spite for their opponents on the left, and for an "adult" audience we get mr birchum and new norm.

Art style seems nice, if nothing else.

Has anyone mentioned Gennedy Tarticovsky yet?
The man is a master of his craft.
Samurai Jack is a classic
Primal is his best work by far
Hotel Transylvania is a decent enough kids film(the sequels don't impress from what I remember)
We have to shout out his work on the prequel shorts, some Star Wars fans hate for some reason. They are wrong

Yeah having a smug know it all protagonist who is always right and never wrong is just a bad protagonist especially if they’re always praised or adored when they do things a normal person finds annoying.

Groening is an honest to god sellout who is carried by the writing team who made the Simpsons brilliant.
