Dragon Quest

I wish more people played Builders so that they could see how to do a sequel correctly.
Amen to that, KT's Omega Force knocked the ball out of the park with 2. It's not just the crisp game play either though, Malroth is the definitive example of breathing new life into a formerly one-note character.

Little disappointed, because some people were theorizing that the reason it was taking so long was because they were also doing I and II. Mostly I'm just incredibly hyped, though. DQIII is one of my favorite games of all time.

Edit: Nevermind, I'm retarded. I and II are coming out, too! Even if it's next year. Honestly, I'm glad that they're not releasing them all at once, because I'd rather have III as soon as possible.

Gentlemen, we're eating like kings...limes. Fingers crossed that Thieves get the Crag/Rubblerouser spells like Erik so they aren't flat useless in battle again.

Actually there's reports that she has. I haven't seen any before and afters, though.
Are you sure? I'm looking at the original trailer and she's not wearing the black top from Dragon Quest of the Stars and in the screenshots Mr. Bobby Brown posted you can see her cheeks and thighs under her loincloth just fine.

I'm just repeating what people have been saying. Like I said, I haven't seen the before and after. I hope what you're saying is true.

I'm mostly concerned with localization at the moment, though.

Mark Boyle and the rest of the Shloc Ltd team have shown themselves to be the exception that proves the rule when it comes to wokalizers. The Marilyn Monroe joke from III was left in tact for the then-new translation done for the smart phone port, the Puff-Puff scenes are uncensored in every modern game that wasn't published by Nintendo, the hammerhood NPC from Builders 1 thinks you're asking him about the birds and the bees in all versions of the game even if the joke had to be adjusted slightly to work in English, etc.

Addendum: for the most recent example, the receptionist for the Endor Colosseum is presented as a thirsty cougar and her lusting after the teenage Psaro was left completely in tact for the English script for The Dark Prince.

Any word on whether it'll have the pachisi game from the 16 bit version?

Not yet but it fuckin' better, to hell with those incompetent hacks who couldn't program the TnT boards for the phone port.
Gawd I fucking hated that mobile release of III that they shat out for consoles it was a bastard child of the gba version with soulless monster portraits ripped off deviantart and using the 16bit character and world sprites oh and they set it up so one of the most critical items (sage stone) was something you didn't get until later in the game. All that said I would've been more interested in a remake of games 4-6 mainly because they're quite a bit longer than 1-3, love the first three games but the only reason they felt long was because you were slow and combat was frequent, my hopes for 3 is if they do the stuff with Ortega they maybe piece it out as you progress sorta like scenes to acts maybe the beginning of the game the main characters mom talks about how he first left and crossed the underground tunnel etc.

I was on the fence about getting it since I did play the other Switch ports, yeah they're not the best ports from what I understand, but I had a good time with them, but I might consider double dipping if they're going to add all these features. It does bug me that they're releasing III before I & II but that's my autism wanting them to be released in order. I do hope this leads to the rest of the franchise getting an update because while I still got a couple on my list to beat (4, 6, 7 & 9), playing updated versions would be nice

I'd forgotten about that, the porting team flat out couldn't understand how monster animations worked and cut them. The opening cutscene showing the King of Aliahan grimly acknowledging that Ortega must have died in the years of his absence and the scene Erdrick's mother swearing to raise their child into the ultimate savior were also cut. It's basically the NES version with a 16-bit coat of paint, and in hindsight its a miracle that thieves and mini medals weren't cut.

The Zenithia Trilogy would be the most logical follow up, and frankly VI could use a tremendous rebalancing to match IX and X's standards. I don't think IV and V would need additional scenario material since those two are rock solid from the get go, but there are a few infamous mysteries in VI that could use some cleaning up. I think the big potential hold up is taxing the development team too much and potentially leading to burn out; Arte-Piazza took a break between V and VI on the DS back in the day.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there some additional kahntent added to IV in the PS1 or DS version? You could have Necrosaro as a character in some post story stuff.

Yes, there was a new chapter written by Jin Fujisawa that has the player turn Psaro back to normal. Fujisawa also hired to write The Dark Prince.

Once again Atomiks24 is a wigger faggot that should be mocked more often. Censoring male and female from dragon quest 3 to appeal to American = more options according to male feminists.

This is 100% going to kill sales in the US. 50/50 on whether or not it hurts Japanese sales, but I can see a lot of people pirating or outright avoiding the remake over this- remember, it being on switch and PC makes it easier to pirate.
