YouTube on the surface is a great platform where people can learn new things, derive entertainment, discuss ideas. The old YouTube acted as a wild west video platform, that didn't moderate to heavly. Now that they have practically little competition as we've seen smaller streaming and video start ups come and go. Stream.me comes to mind. If your a creator or even a commenter you have to walk on eggshells. They'll allow monkey torture videos, naked yoga, and are perfectly fine with exposing children to sexual topics. But if you say a that a tranny is not and will never be a woman, that is forbidden and the offensive material must be deleted. And yes I'm kind of MATI about it. If the trannies want equal rights then they have to endure being made fun of, like everyone else. Instead they want protected status and big tech companies like alphabet inc. are happy to oblige. It's getting fucking ridiculous. Sure I could change platforms, but it doesnt have the variety. I made one comment about people who feed into the trannies delusions is just like gaslighting a schizophrenic. Deleted by YouTube. I'm up for suggestions on a less pozzed platform but it needs variety. This is more of a rant and it comes off as a bit sperg, but I'm tired of their shit. Total YouTube Death.

More and more embedded videos are being blocked from playback on other sites: that "watch on YouTube" BS.

And of course YT staff try various BS tricks to disable or impair other frontends from accessing YT vids.

And that's not even getting into all that BS with advertisements -- and trying to disable ad blockers BS.

YouTube's deletebot is completely out-of-control. It's now a 50/50 shot as to whether or not a comment will actually get posted. I tried twice to respond to a content creator about the behavior of honeybees - HONEYBEES - and both were deleted.

It's gotten beyond absurd. I don't dare try to post a long, signal-rich comment, as it would be a complete waste of time.

If we are being honest, YouTube died when the algorithm changed mid-2010s. The change to favor viewer retention over clicks turned YT into a trash bin where the only successful content creators were ones that could produce long-form content in a short time frame. From there, YouTube became a series of bloated video essays and streamer content as those were some of the only things that could survive the change.

I'm glad video essays are dying out. Form your own opinions for once! And e-celebs are part of the cancer that killed the internet because they blurred the line between internet and real life.
Are they? I know more people are getting annoyed by them, but it and streamers are still shit out onto my feed at a rapid pace.

Videos essayists will go on about zoomer loneliness but will make hour long videos about interesting topics that ensure no zoomer stops watching them and isolating themselves for hours. I wonder if YT astroturfs them to keep zoomers reclusive and keep the loneliness problem there.

Nah, YT changed their algorithm awhile back to favor viewer retention as longer watch periods means more areas for ADs. YouTubers are now just gaming the system, taking a 10 min vid and stretching it out to an hour as more ADs means more income.
