I think the main motivation for ditching Biden will be damage control and trying to salvage the party as a whole. Biden/pelosi/schumer may not care about the future but younger democrats don't want to sacrifice their future for corrupt octogenarians who only care for themselves. They can't admit they're giving up on the election because their donors would permanently disappear.

I struggle to visualize how the Democrat Party as a whole survives the next 4 months if they really do try to run Biden all the way. Pretending an obvious dementia patient is OK? He's going to have many, many more "bad days" before November yet they expect every normie Dem to just pretend along with them? The debate was only two weeks ago - the election is 16 weeks away. How will the history books describe this election farce for the rest of time? I just don't see it, it's suicide for the entire Dem brand.

Isn't Trump a Floridian now? President and VP can't be from the same state. And there would be no point to put in Rubio since it doesn't really bring in or shore up any voting constituency. I've never considered Rubio to be of particular appeal to Latinos. If he was just going to do something as transactional as that, he should just go for a black guy like Tim Scott.

I’m absolutely dying laughing at Trump, he blends the serious with the funny, the stories with the prompter so seamlessly it’s such a fun time. I’ve listened to him enough to know he does talk a lot to his ‘guests’ and name drop them throughout but I’m suspicious about his linking Marco with the VP pick, even if it was to dismiss it. I’m thinking he now may not announce, will need to rewatch Jeremy to see where this rumour came from.

Trump’s whole family is there, sounds like. That might be why he thinks this is the VP announcement. Even Barron is there.

I guess we could narrow down the list by determining the criteria needed by laws and public opinion; such as being an American citizen, being a name that is somewhat familiar, being between 35-50 years, being self-funded, good at public speaking, goot at formal events, good at informal events, etc.

It’s 20 strokes - 10 each side lol. Not clear if match or stroke play but either way that’s a big shit on Biden.

Trump can change his address pretty easy, but active congress is probably off the table so it doesn't matter for Zodiac

No, it isn’t. There’s no rule against both sides of the ticket being from the same state.

However, since an elector can’t vote for two people from his home state, it means the candidate would potentially lose the electoral votes for that state. He’d need to win the election by more EVs to make up for it. So conventional wisdom is that both must be from different states.

Not that it really matters. Cheney was from Texas like Bush, so before Election Day in 2000 he registered his vacation home in Wyoming as his official residence to get around this quirk of the Electoral College.

The only quirk I could see of that in this era would be Trump switching from Florida to New York, for example, only to immediately have them try lawfare on him now that he's a resident of that state.
