To some extent I can understand wanting to control the process a bit more. Even when he was liked as a content creator the packages got a bit fucked up and I can only imagine what the people who used to attempt sending fucked things may be interested in doing at this point.
Yet, the biggest positive of the bad unboxing was the strange trash and deranged packages. Him setting up what is essentially a Throne account with extra steps is just not the same show in any way.
At the very end of him doing the old bad unboxings he had a massive pile of smelly packages in his home.

He could just screen the deranged garbage people would send in now and it would at least give the show a shot at being interesting. With the process he is applying to this now it is dead before it even starts.
