I'm convinced democrats have a minimum of 35-40% that'll vote blue no matter who. My guess is that's around what Biden will get at this current rage, maybe 45% tops. Not even 2012 looked so certain this far out, but things can always change.

Never happening. Biden is the one who brought up golf and looks like a bitch for backing down, but he'd look like an even bigger bitch if he accepted the challenge due to the inevitable outcome - not only would he lose, he would look terrible while doing so. Though honestly I'm not sure what more he thinks he has left to lose in that area.

Newsom's biggest strength is his look. Commanding kinda waspy looking guy with a well put together family. He appears to be a competent public speaker. Despite helping run California into the ground his public image is of a leader who manages the most complex state and keeps himself from doing or saying anything particularly embarrassing. That's all you need in a party full of clowns and 80 y/os clinging to power. Like DeSantis it won't be easy to maintain his image once he's out campaigning on the national stage.

Jackie is entirely too schizoid for the mainstream. She rode the wave of DEI to be recognized by whatever horseshit organizations labeled her a cybersecuirty guru, but even then she posts such wild and libelous crap that most people on her side of the aisle just ignore her existence. She's basically cybersecurity's approach to the gangstalking delusion. Also she definitely reads everything posted about her.

I mean let’s not be naive. This has been going on for a long time, what we’re seeing is the most recent update to the playbook. If democrats aren’t stupid we should see a further push to global escalation and we can watch them point fingers at the republicans and go “see! think about how bad it would be if he was in office right now”. FDR couldn’t walk but Biden can’t even talk. The difference is most people watching the news had a positive opinion of FDR because they weren’t aware of the full picture, it was purposefully covered up and fireside chats weren’t required to have FDR stand up and walk around. FDR also had anyone who spoke up against involvement in WW2 effectively jailed under sedition.

Honestly, their smartest play would be to forget about “name recognition” altogether and just pick some boring nobody instead. Play for the “generic Democrat” vote, that polls better than any potential candidate otherwise.

Have him campaign purely as “not Trump” and try to pull in the idiot centrist neverTrumper types.

What’s Evan Bayh doing these days? He’s under 70, a former Senator and former Governor of a Midwest state. If he has baggage, it’s not well enough known to matter.

iirc there was like, one or two chuckles when he brought up the idea that Germany depending on Russia for energy wasn't such a great plan
obviously the concerns about Russian energy have never since come up for any reason
