Parents and school officials in Newark, New Jersey are furious after a suggestive video advertising a women’s basketball tournament at a local high school circulated online.

The “Nuttin But Azz” Baddies Basketball tournament was supposed to take place on July 21 at West Side High School in Newark, NJ. An ad for the event showed ticket priced ranging from $50 for General Admission to $500 for floor seats to watch teams competing for a $10,000 prize. But the tournament has since been canceled after representatives of the school learned the women would be playing the game in thongs – that’s right, thongs.

According to school board Communications Director Nancy J. Deering, district officials didn’t know the details until the controversial video was discovered online. But as soon as they learned, they wasted no time distancing themselves from the event.

“This was supposed to be a community basketball event sponsored by Councilman Kelly. No school or district official approved the activity depicted in the video or knew that an event at one of our schools would include such activity,” Deering told NJ.com

For his part, West Ward Councilman Dupré ‘Doitall’ Kelly is covering his tracks, calling the video “absolutely horrible” and claiming his office had nothing to do with creating the content.
‘As a councilman and as a father, I would never allow this type of content to be filmed in any of our schools, and I don’t agree or promote it in any way,’ he told TAPintoNewark.

Big Fendi, the event’s organizer, recently issued an apology to the city of Newark, school officials, parents and other members of the community who may have been offended.

“We were doing an event and then, you know, things went a little left, and out of control, and I take full responsibility for that, cause you guys had no knowledge of what these girls would be wearing in this celebrity game,” he said in a June 19 Instagram post.

I was relieved to find out that at least these weren’t high school girls basketball players.

But then I remembered the time I fell into watching black high school marching band videos. Most black marching bands, both high school and college level, seem to have a section that in a normal marching band would be, like, the baton twirlers. But in a black marching band they are sexy baddies in skin tight leotards gyrating. Including the high school ones! So I guess it’s not TOTALLY out of the question in a black community, which tbh I find very sad.

He can't pretend he wasn't aware of the nature of the event because he's IN SHOT when the girls come in wearing thongs and twerking - and he specifically addresses the camera talking about "big booty queens". It's the dumbest defence ever.
I believe that's Big Fendi, the organizer of the prestigious Nuttin' But Azz tournament, who is in the video. He's credited with discovering Nicki Minaj and and is a leading authority on phat asses and big booty black women.

Councilman Dupé Kelly does not have the same level of connoisseurship though he is a black man. As a member of the hip-hop group Lords of the Underground, he was part of the comparatively innocent East Coast hip-hop golden age of the 1990s. He became a member of the Newark City Council in 2022 after a unsuccessful run in 2018. Zesty and suspicious looking, this nigger is not to be trusted.

The Newark Board of Education discussed what happened in their regular board meeting on June 18th 2024. The video has been posted on Vimeo (starts at 2:23). NY Post has a snippet of the meeting:

Which includes one of the council members saying "if the video wan't leaked, that event would have still tooken place on July 20th-- and there would have been more than basketballs bouncing in that gym!"

Suss indeed!

@Celebrate Nite I understand, but Nicki Minaj was anti-vaxx and BTFO'd two reporters who tried to shut her down for it by posting their numbers on her Instagram. I can't help being sentimental, though she licentious negress who looks like a cartoon.
