It makes no difference. America is different to the rest of the world. You're a melting pot. I mean for example what is an American ethnically? This is why you have no radical right wing political party and never will. Trump only talks about stopping illegal immigration. The fact is net immigration into the US every year is around 1.5 million people. Trump wants to keep that number. He mentions nothing about massively reducing legal immigration.

I try to empathize. If you genuinely believe that the president-elect is a racist/sexist/xenophobe/latest buzzword, who you see as the figurehead of a movement that you hate to your very core, I can understand why you would go bat-fucking-shit at everyone who is calm or neutral. On a personal level, you likely think that I'm invalidating you yourself. It's not rational, but emotional people are not rational.

I don't because these people are either

1) willingly putting themselves in a situation where they get information only from select sources creating their political safe space that way and reject all dissent and discussions
2) are too stupid to go out and research these things

So I tried to address the root fear: that the US will go to hell in a handbasket. It's not, don't worry, he's all bark and no bite just like so many other presidents. I was hoping that would suffice, but then I realized something: they're not only scared of Armageddon, but on principle, they do not want a president who seems to represent everything they hate.

In other words, Trump could turn out to govern exactly the same way as Obama, and he'd still be hated by the progressive left crowd for being a big ciswhitehet meanie. This is the source of pretty much all partisan bs.

Aaaaaand now you see why I don't care about people who fall in that first category and am telling you to get better friends
