A guy at work who is over 40, goatee, leather jacket wearing, and works in the rebar division was asked the question "what kind of music do you listen to?" he responded "female power punk rock". straight face, not a joke. There is no question that he is a man through and through.

Was looking for some of Reddit's reactions to the news and found this thread on r/unitedkingdom.

Most of the comments are about what you'd expect - absolute insanity, seething, wailing and gnashing of teeth. The top comment is (amazingly) spot on, all the replies are typical Reddit.

Anyway the reason I mention it is there's already people in there claiming that there's been teen deaths caused by previous UK legislation... it's just kids that suicided in the time period since, no actual evidence it was directly or even indirectly caused by said legislation. Also there's a ton of seething morons insisting that puberty blockers are perfectly reversible and harmless... fucking lying scumbags. A couple out of many get called out but they just fall back on "so you support trans kids killing themself!" It's incredibly frustrating to see but I do have faith there's "normies" reading the same thing I am and seeing just how out of wack it is.

Like many I used to tolerate the big T... I've been around a lot of lgbtq (mostly LG tbf) in my life being from a college town and they're usually pretty cool, if not also pretty weird. But weird is fine or even good as long as it's not the creepy predator kind. Even knew a few early trans that were also weird, but harmless and friendly enough. These last 10 years, though... my patience is gone. Willfully lying and intentionally misleading people, especially fucking children, to get your way is fucked and it needs to be called out and stopped. I do feel like we're almost at that point... but not nearly fast enough. Kudos to the Labour Party for this one. I don't know much about UK parties or politics but I wasn't expecting this move from them. I was under the impression they're pro tranny... but maybe with a touch of "but not the children, please"? With any luck they'll see how the tranny mob turns on them, calling for their literal deaths, and decide maybe they don't want to support such volatile creatures anymore. Probably a bit too optimistic there, though...

They are, normally. But they won the election by hoovering up the centrists while the Conservatives argued about whether they should be far right or super-far right. That meant dialling back their own centre-alienating talking points.

That’s true. Labour has gotten itself into a hell of a mess over the last few years on this issue and looked like clowns. Starmer and others have been asked embarrassing questions like „what is a woman” and given idiotic answers (my favourite was one who seemed to think troons got cervixes). It’s a distraction from the main game of winning an election.

There has also been internal division, which is a real problem when you’re fighting a general election. MP Rosie Duffield has been terfing publicly for a few years, which has earnt her the usual death threats. In the last few weeks a guy was convicted for making death threats to her and Queen Terf JK Rowling. Both Labour women, both victims of domestic abuse, both advocates of single sex spaces. So far, so normal. But it’s but also earnt her harassment, isolation and abuse within the party.

One of the few MPs to have supported Duffield when it was unfashionable is Wes Streeting, who is now in charge of Health ie. puberty blocker policy and single sex hospital wards, among other things. He is also gay. His view: "Men have penises, women have vaginas; here ends my biology lesson." Amen.

They’ve been held hostage by the TRAs for too long and can see where that’s gotten them: internal dissent and public ridicule. It’ll be interesting though to see if bored backbenchers start causing mischief over this now they’re safely in power.

Two separate but complementary reasons I guess. First, they're mentally ill and personal hygiene is never a high priority then. And second, their view of womanhood is entirely appearance-based, so they know if they want to be a woman they need to wash their ass on occasion.
