Someone has probably already posted this, but just in case they haven't I will. The anti-Trump stuff is from before the 2016 election. He was just one of those Republicans that thought Donald Trump was basically a joke candidate and didn't take him seriously. When Trump got elected and showed he meant business (yeah, I know he wasn't exactly perfect the first time around, but he could have been a lot worse) he was obviously won over. I'm pretty sure he's been pro-Trump for years now, from what I remember hearing/reading from him. He definitely was in 2020 and said there was electoral fraud.

Part of the problem is that the swamp is entirely pervasive when you get high enough levels. There are very few people with enough credentials/experience to do the job that have not been compromised in the process of ascending to that point. If he appoints literal whos it's too easy for the swamp to pounce and expel them. I mean look at the VP race itself. Everyone on the list had some issues that would make them less than ideal. His problem though goes a bit further because not only does he select these swamprats, but then he actually trusts them and empowers them, then is shocked when they betray him.
