Video Game Husbands - Lusting after pixelated men

No ladies have posted Squall yet huh? I have no horse in the race, but I remember back in the day, girls loved him.

Neverwinter Nights original campaign kind of sucks on the romance ratio between men and women.
Now that you mention it, yeah. Both NWN and BG2 had that problem, now that I think about it. EE had Dorn/Rasaad/Hexxat although they appeared to receive a negative reception from the community as a whole. Especially the Rasaad romance ending.

Anyway, Shadow of Undrentide's trio were my gang. They're not "video-game husbands" but I appreciate em anyway.

Yeah most of the romances in BGEE are pretty "eh" in my experience and opinion. Some area really good but most are just kind of middling to bad. I think that's mostly because of Beamdog's involvement, they're really just not the best writers or company, frankly.

Shadow of the Undrentide's trio of eejits were my favorite too. I love my homeboy Deekin to this day. Wish we coulda gotten more content with Dorna and Xanos, though. They had interesting backstories to say the least. Could have built way more on 'em.

Thread Tax: Logan from Fable 3 is a video game husband for me. Same goes for Reaver. Both boil down to voice acting, but damn it I just love me some terrible and evil men.

Always thought Valen from Neverwinter Nights sounded and looked cool. Never tried his romance, though I'm not surprised that he got so popular considering NWN's sister series BG2 only had Anomen as a love interest for females. I did try Anomen's romance and by the end of it I think I might have been happier with Xzar

Anomen was the worse. When someone did a mod to romance Keldorn, I sighed in relief. Because Keldorn was at least a man of some interest and experience. Anomen on the other hand...

NWN 2 had some decent romances. I likes that the evil romance with Bishop doesn't have a real happy ending. I suppose none truly have a happy one since the ending leaves everything up the air but that one is sort of a kick in the feels before the end. Bishop was a decent chaotic evil representative as he wasn't just a sociopath, he was an extreme survivor who had just learned to always put number one as himself and only himself. To the detriment of others.

...I could sperg all day about Bioware romances but I'll refrain.

I posted him in the 'villains you find hot' thread, but Barnabas from FFXVI can get it.

On that note, so can that game's iteration of Cid:

And of course the main protagonist, Clive:

Precious boy Joshua, protect him at all costs:

Now, these ones are up to fan interpretation. No one knows what Ludwig the Holy Blade from Bloodborne looked like before he turned into the Accursed, so fans either draw him with blonde, brown or black hair. Personally I like fanart showing him with black hair. This piece is one of the better pieces of him - another, infamously, had him looking like Jeffree Starr.

Another character that never had a face model was Dragonslayer Ornstein from DS1. Most fans headcanon him as a redhead, and I approve.
ornstein.PNG
(Provided he doesn't look like fucking George Floyd as he did in one piece in the SJW art thread, we're good.)

The Nameless King from DSIII actually does have a face model - and it's very creepy looking because he's Hollowed by that point. He basically has a gaping mouth and empty eye sockets. Fanart exists of him in his godly state, and here's one of the cuter ones I found:

Shadow of the Undrentide's trio of eejits were my favorite too.
Yeah..too bad the other two never appear again. Everyone loves Deekin and for good reason, but Xanos was hilarious as fuck and Dorna was down-to-earth but interesting.
I also always heard the rumour you could romance Daelen Red Tiger as a woman, but I've never been able to make it trigger on my countless playthroughs, so take that statement with a grain of salt.
I think in Wailing Death, any "romances" with henchmen are just some vague flirty dialogue after they tell you their backstory. It just so happens that Sharwyn's is the most developed. Weirdly enough, she moves on from the PC and gets married to some ugly fucker in her canon ending. What the hell was that for?

Here's Albert Cole, one of the pregenerated characters from the original Fallout. In comparison to Fallout 2 having 3d heads, I personally think this art aged much better. It's one of my favorite designs. I love the concept of someone being a lawyer in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

he gives you this look and then dies to a tiny rat immediately after, wyd
1721284178034.png

From what I've heard, making the Fallout 1&2 talking heads was an arduous process. They had to sculpt the clay models, digitize them, make them as 3d models, then animate a range of expressions.

Mayor of Junktown. He's a pretty chill guy looking out for his community. Neat fact: There would have been a plot twist where his dashing "frontier justice" mindset ends up harming the community, but it ended up as cut-content as the devs felt it was "unsatisfying".

1721284828391.png
I've always liked the backstory behind his accent and name (a child of British immigrants larping as Robin Hood) though I'm gonna be honest he also looks like human Shrek

Unfortunately, all the decent looking chaps are all dead and gone in the sequel, leaving us with Mr TribalMcBoneFace, mutants, and BlueSpike. As well as a bunch of faceless Enclave Soldiers. Truly a sad day in husbando history (although this is honestly just me sperging over the character designs)

I will never understand the appeal of face-blob anime people when 99% look exactly the same except for hair color. Even Greek statues have more distinguishing facial features.

Даниил Данковский

Big fan of the decision to make him older and more weary-looking than the emo-kid tier portrait in the first game.

I love villains with sexy voices.

Raphael from BG3

Vulpes Inculta from Fallout: New Vegas

Agent 47 has changed my taste in husbandos immensely. I can't find the anime twinks attractive anymore.
Oh, you reminded me of the burned man/Joshua graham. It was love at first sight for me. He's surprisingly popular with the ladies. Many other girls I've talked to irl and online think he's hot, pun intended.

I am convinced Final Fantasy XIV is an elaborate otome game in disguise. Maybe the entire Final Fantasy series as a whole due to the immense amount of handsome men, but I think XIV is particularly suspicious. If you are a sucker for daddies and attractive men in power, look no further.

Unfortunately, the writers must acquiesce to trannies, sexually abused turned mentally ill women identifying as non-binary, and other faggots so absolutely zero expressions of familiarity and romance are allowed. Watch the narrative perform backflips to make attractive princes scouring the world for a chance to be with you appear as just a friendly engagement.

These are brief summaries. Don't open spoilers if you haven't completed the main scenario.

These two men below are introduced in base game "A Realm Reborn" and fleshed out in the "Heavensward" expansion.

Final.Fantasy.XIV.600.3750342-441012540.jpg

A majority of the expansion is spent with the man on the right, Estinien, an elf-like man who originally is your rival turned ally (Dragon Ball Z Vegeta phenotype). Rough around the edges. Serves as a big brother for a teen male companion that accompanies you. If your character has the Dragoon job unlocked and associated job quest progressed, he affectionately identifies you as "his other eye". The protagonist serves officially as not only his superior (as having succeeded Estinien's Dragoon contingent captain), but as one of his closest friends after the events of Heavensward. Unfortunately, very bad with money. A bit of a bimbo. Totally likes taking baths, for real, so don't believe the apparent rumors stating otherwise.

The man on the left is the another elf, Aymeric, who serves as his nation's leading military commander. It is with the assistance and blessing of Aymeric that the events of the Heavensward expansion begin as his nation had a strict seclusion policy. He introduces himself as one who is closely interested in the protagonist, a fan of yours. Repeatedly states he wishes he could travel with you were he not busy being a major political figure serving his country. The protagonist goes on a dinner date with him complete with wine and candles. Deep voice and flirty tones. Need I say more? Also extremely tall, potentially 6-7ft. Canonically loved by many in-game women of all ages as well, including his second in command female officer. Served his early military days with Estinien and Haurchefant, another character that players adore.

Man below is a major antagonist of the Stormblood expansion, Zenos. Prince of the powerful nation Garlemald which threatens to conquer the entire world. Actual psychopath that thrust his own country into civil war. According to my calculations, he is 8'3" tall so mans has real estate. He becomes interested in the protagonist after hearing about your grand exploits similar to Aymeric, and moreso after fighting you once. Becomes enemy of the protagonist the more the main plot throws you into political entanglement and forces your hand into joining the liberation of conquered nations under Garlean control. After the events of Stormblood, he returns to the plot in a massive pursuit of the protagonist, eager to have another battle with you. Somehow, this development leads to having a dinner date with him and a 1v1 fist fight at the literal end of the world. Every otome needs it's yandere and I am here for it. Has his own stalker who becomes a psuedo-political/romantic rival to the protagonist. Yes, the thing on his forehead is a gem and not a pimple as all of his people have the same thing for inexplicable reasons.

ff14-fanfest-trailer_feature-3636204586.jpg

Probably the most contentious of the bunch is the man below, G'raha Tia. Energetic type (genki) young adult (age 25) male that experiences an immensely tragic life event leading to the Shadowbringers expansion for major character development. Interestingly not very tall at 5'5" from my estimation. As an odd turn of events in the main scenario, he has seen every (scion) main character completely naked except the protagonist, the who he is actually interested in for legitimate plot reasons. Real talk, why did the artist give this nigga bedroom eyes in official artwork? How are female players supposed to interpret impromtu dates with this individual in Shadowbringers (upper Kholusia sequence) and Dawntrail expansion where you visit a festive candy stall and go on a literal Gondola ride, just the two of you? The protagonist risks their life and endures pain just to save him from a horrific fate, embraces him in the end, and players are just supposed to accept the romantic undertones. Suffah.

ff14ew-graha-tia-artwork-1533815393.jpg

Depending on your own tastes, the list does not end here but these are the primary individuals beguiling the hearts of female players. There are many women who are also entranced by the characters Haurchefant, Arvenvald, Hien, Thancred, Koana, etc. Yes I believe I am a worse person for having played this video game.

A slightly obscure husband (Maybe?) on my end would be Garrett from the Thief Series. Purely for the voice acting of Stephen Russell who I adore. I also like him as the Thieves Guild Master in Skyrim, Mercer Frey. Voice acting is like 90 percent of the reason I like a character most of the time.

Raubahn got me sucked so hard into XIV when I first began playing. But once his screentime went to nil after Shadowbringers I spurned him for Estinien...

I've brought him up in other threads but Morgott gets a very special mention from me. Looks like a bum, but remains a Chad. Spurned by his mother, deemed cursed, and died defending the capital he loved most. Spurned by grace, he won it in the end. Best boy.

I also adore Radahn, Miquella's tricks aside. Defend my general at all costs.
Screenshot_20240725-032532_(1).png
Messmer has the same countenance as Morgott, albeit he just gave up. Abandoned by his mother, Marika, and doomed to guard the Lands of Shadow from intruders, this snek boy has won many, many hearts. We love a moody warlord. Also greatly respected by his men, so that's another win from me. He earns affection, he doesn't command it entirely.

(Also got Rennala's sister to leave Carian royalty for him, dude had rizz.)

Can't believe I missed Final Fantasy's Auron. Another moody character, he's also witty, sarcastic at times, and badass.

Final Fantasy's Balthier (on the left). Your girlfriend is his girlfriend now. And so are you.

One of the few men who could wear bling and not look like a faggot.

I almost forgot: Final Fantasy XVI's Dion Lesage. The franchise's first openly gay character, he manages to actually be a person instead of your cookie cutter faggot. A true Chad, and a cutie.

He may not like women but I will protect him.

Same. Absolutely same. He also did Corvo's voice in Dishonoured 2 (which is the spiritual successor of Thief considering it was made by Looking Glass employees. Though Harvey has unfortunately gone off the woke deep end with the rest of Arkane.)

But I had such a crush on Garrett has a little girl. Just based on voice and his anti-hero status. Dude just wanted to steal and make a buck to pay his rent. Then he had to save the City and fight a Woodsie Lord. Man.

I've been meaning to play Dishonoured forever and at some point I will when I get off my lazy ass and wade through all the games I have. I'll def have to pick it up knowing Stephen is Corvo now too. (Which makes the CorvoxGarrett ship that was popular all the more weird, in hindsight.)

(Sidenote: Yeah, the TTLG forums aren't much better for discussion on anything but the games lmao. Troons, Woketards, Pedo Defenders and "Trump is literally Hitler!" Seethers galore over there. Thank god all the talent on those forums has either died off or gotten the fuck out over the years.)

But same. I loved him when I first played the original Thief: Dark Project and Thief: The Metal age. Mum even had those funky triangular box cases for them before we lost 'em in a fire. Stephen Russell's voice acting never ceases to impress me.

Thread Tax: Sten from Dragon Age. I actually really liked the progression of his character throughout the game. Especially when playing as a woman. He's not a good looking guy by any means in Origins but that's par for the course for everyone in Origins lmao.
