I still think he rushed it. The fact that he shot right after a police officer stuck his head up indicates at a minimum, no conspiracies involved, that he knew his time was almost up. Trump and everyone has pointed out if he didn't turn his head right in that moment he would have died, but if you watch that segment he is looking back and forth quite frequently. As Trump said, he rarely does so, and was only doing it because he was looking at the immigration statistics, but it was not the first time in the speech he'd done so. Even right before he looked, he had only briefly looked back at the crowd. This is a thing Thomas would have known (that he was reading from the image) because Trump's voice was carrying over that far (we know from the bystander videos). Thus, Thomas was playing whack a mole with Trump at that moment. Had he simply waited until that part of the speech was over, he would have had a guaranteed hit.

Thus, I would argue that the police officer who investigated (and the people who pushed the police officer to do so) very much also contributed to saving Trump's life.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if he read Industrial Society and Its Future. If we eliminate , the kid strikes me as an 'Uncle Ted' type. There were over 600 hours of recorded tapes, texts, internet searches, locations and phone records to successfully put some away in prison.

Think about it, what would happen if either candidate got killed on national television in this election cycle? Riots, chaos, civil war, violence, fighting, anger, joy? It would tear the nation apart and likely never recover for at least several years. You can write off any hope of a veneer of bi-partisanship for a generation. Assuming it was successful, it would possibly hand the office to the opposition, but talk about a hollow victory. I can't believe this kid wouldn't know that political assassinations create martyrs.

This in the end is where I am at. I definitely didn't want to simply jump onto the conspiracy bandwagon. Afterall, the rhetoric alone would be sufficiently spur on a mentally diseased mind to violence even without aid. And simple luck can do more for someone than any conspiracy. Hell, look at Trump's luck for surviving. Yet as information has come out, as we know more and more about how things broke down and larger and larger questions keep appearing that have no good answer....

Well, eventually occams razor says deliberate action makes more sense than sheer ineptitude. even for a DEI hire. I think you got it right, or close to. The Institutions wouldn’t be destroyed. They’d still be there.
