There is no adapting to tactics. The USA did pull the smart move. They simply didn't fight. The USA's battle record is pretty much entirely absent. It's one of the most diplomatic countries on the planet, and one of the few who will negotiate in situations where most others will not. Look at the Russians in Afghanistan, compared to the USA. The USA's policy was to try to "make allies" and minimise casualties. The Russian method was not.

Russia isn't abnormally brutal, the USA is abnormally hands-off.

It's why the USA, despite fighting very little and having a poor battle record during both world wars, was still able to negotiate with parties. The "neutral country which will make reasonable demands" is how the USA got into its position. Pretending that it did so through battle valour is fucking retarded and will get you killed. It's what drives people like Biden to do horrific shit (yes, Biden's plastic paddyism is fucking horrifying and shows his personality)

See, this backs up what I'm trying to explain delicately to the man who doesn't understand basic English. The USA values freedom, diplomacy and trade over bravery. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but that shit is unthinkable in Europe. Most Europeans have a completely different mindset - the only reason why Europeans wouldn't participate is if they saw the government as hostile, and would gladly participate if it was for another government.
