They should get more talking points (sneaking candy and soda to his grandkids was cute) but it is understandable why they'd focus on this. Trump has loudly talked about nothing other than his policies (and how crap the Dems' are) for almost a decade while legacy media and leftists constantly attack his character. Talking about how relatable and what a good guy he is, is not a terrible choice. One of the things that got W elected was his everyman persona, and the whole "he's a man I'd like to drink with" idea.
Its genius really. He knows that the viewership for the RNC will be historic this year. Its his chance to court the undecideds by humanizing himself. The convention has been absolutely packed with stories of Trump hanging out with his supporters, consoling them, joking with them, dancing with them, and generally just being a personable lovable goof.

When I think of how much Trump seems to genuinely love interacting with his supporters (in no small part because he's a bit of a narcissist) it makes me think of that picture of Hilary Clinton looking confused and disgusted as she looms in the doorway of that Mexican family's apartment. Trump is leagues closer to his rank-and-file than any of his potential opponents. He's a gaudy tasteless noveau riche hype-man. He loves McDonalds and oreos and diet coke. He is American as fuck.

lol Tucker with a bigger response than Trump

It still mystifies me why Fox News got rid of him. Also, this is the first time I've ever heard Tucker talk in his non-newscaster normal voice.
I was pretty typical lib at the time and even then remember being confused why “that isn’t how white men fight” in a private text was supposed to be so shockingly racist that they needed to fire him.
