Nobody in the party is desperate enough for power to jump on this grenade for the Democrats, Jill & Hunter are dependent on Joe staying in office for their own ends, getting a new nominee on the ballot in all 50 states is a recipe for the courts to muck everything up, and all the "rumors" leaking is just donors throwing a tantrum because they're the only ones who haven't resigned themselves to a likely 2nd Trump term.
When actual politicians get interviewed over "off the record" leaks to WaPo and the like, they have mostly stopped talking about Biden and are focused on downticket races. That's a sign of a party that's resigned themselves to having him as their nominee.

ohio(?) was the only state that had a deadline for ballot but apparently the state legislature amended the law to push the deadline past the DNC a few weeks ago. The Dems can have their open convention and then get on the ballot. Most of the other states put the party's nominee on the ballot.
