Lawmakers on the calls told CNN that the Secret Service and FBI officials provided new details on Crooks’ mental state and actions before he shot at Trump on Saturday, though many expressed dissatisfaction at what they were told to explain how Crooks was able to fire multiple shots at Trump.

Two sources on the call also said briefers told lawmakers that the shooter visited the rally location twice after the Butler rally was announced, including on the day of the shooting. Based on cell phone data, it was estimated that the shooter was there for 70 minutes.

Law enforcement sources briefed on the investigation told CNN that in addition to the photos of Trump and Biden, the shooter’s phone also contained pictures of congressional leaders, such as House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

There were also pictures of other politicians across the political spectrum, including Rudy Giuliani, the former Trump attorney involved in the effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election, and Fani Willis, the Fulton County district attorney who is prosecuting both Trump and Giuliani.

Almost all of the pictures appeared to have been downloaded from the internet and were not accompanied by any threatening language or messages. Sources briefed on the investigation told CNN that the phone also showed searches dating back to this spring, looking for the dates and locations of Trump rallies and for information on the two political conventions.

US officials said the significance of the photos, as well as the searches for the conventions and Trump events, is not clear.

On TwittX most of the comments are saying he shouldn't have to apologise (doesn't matter, already did), and good for him for deleting it. Yeah, good for him for being the world's fattest weasel...

There’s still a lot of work to do no doubt about that, the most important thing for the republicans to do is rallying every single person in mainland United States that is even a smidge upset about the current way of things or at the economy.

Trump has had the unique opportunity of earning more voters without isolating huge demographics and that is something I think he is actively aware of and his speech at the RNC solidified that to me at least.

I think the biggest demographic to come out for Trump is the 25-35 age demographic, which is mostly consistent of young families. Mothers and fathers with a child right now in that age range know That shit is fucked and it’s not normal, no matter what the propaganda says. People are paying 100 bucks extra each month for gas, groceries and bills.

It’s only the most hardcore of democrats, (literal communists, Redditors, interns in the party, and Troons) are the people that are buying the Project 2025 bs, the people who are actively paying taxes are the ones who need to be swung and that’s who the republicans should focus on.

Edit: to clarify Trump can still lose but they have the advantage, He needs to hit the nail on the head for the issues that affect the voters wallets and he has a smooth road to victory.

Not going to be easy, but it's within Trump's reach, given the recent aggregate polling data which has given him a slight lead.

Virginia starting to lean in Trump's favor is a great thing regardless of whether he actually wins the state or not. Most "polling experts" claim that if Trump is slightly ahead in a state like Virginia, then he is most likely up big in several of the swing states.

Also there's a big gap between getting people fired and deplatformed over saying that teaching toddlers about anal is inappropriate, and getting fired people advocating for the murder of the other party's presidential candidate immediately after an almost successful attempt.

JD Vance is holding a rally in Radford (a smaller town in the Western part of the state) this coming Monday. Both were in Michigan today which is another state that's close, but slightly leaning Trump as of the latest polls.

People are perhaps forgetting is that while Joe is recovering from COVID and Democrats in general are infighting and trying to figure out who their candidate actually is, Republicans are out campaigning.

We also have a VP debate coming up at some point as well as a second presidential debate in September. Assuming Biden is their nominee, I can't see either of those debates going well for them.

That would be bad for Kamala though.

She has not much to gain and everything to lose if she becomes President now. Sure she'd be "The incumbent President", but as VP she's got a lot more advantages.

She can spend all her time campaigning and fundraising, as much as Trump. If she's President she'll have like, actual work to do and responsibilities.

3 months is not enough time to build a legacy in office. But it is enough time to fuck shit up, have policy gaffes, and fuck up major unanticipated crises. If some October surprise of a market crash, Nu-COVID, or something like the current internet outage hits, she'd be better having Biden around to flail at it

Her replacing Biden now is all downside and very little upside.

I don't watch CNN so I can't say for sure, but it seems incredibly doubtful, if for no other reason that they want to make rage bait content for their TDS audience.

On another note, I almost wonder if Kamala will wind up being the president for a short time before Biden's term is up. We already know what kind of shape Biden is in now and four months of heavy campaigning is not going to be easy on him. If he suffers a crushing loss in November, that could well push him over the edge and cause a major health condition that leaves him unable to act as president. Although I don't think it's likely, there's also a remote possibility that Kamala and the rest of the party are so upset over Joe not only losing badly, but also dragging down the party with him that they 25th amendment him just out of spite.
