Atlas and Luna are a good juxtaposition. One is a functional, normally developing child. The other is not, but could have been. It was avoidable.

I don't know why this slide in particular caught my attention, but it did. I found quite a few articles in the National Library of Medicine stating that acemannan from the inner leaves of the aloe vera plant have various beneficial properties. A lot of research is being done on it.
But here's the thing: Studies are also being done on the most effective way to extract it and stabilize it without degrading it.
Unless I read it incorrectly, steam extraction isn't one of them. Actually good old freeze drying seems to yield the best results. So Robyn's super expensive wonder supplement with it's patented steam extraction process is worthless.

Edited to add so I don't have to double post: My best guess is that purple spot is black drawing salve. It's an old timey treatment used on everything including livestock. It's made out of sulfonated shale oil. Sometimes it looks more purple usually it looks translucent black. The Amish and Mennonites in PA use it and other types of drawing salves.

I guess it worked well enough on livestock so people started using it.
The other type of black salve I never heard of is made of bloodroot and zinc chloride. It's recently become popular as a treatment for everything from eczema to skin cancer. The second black salve is corrosive and the FDA issued a warning against using it in Oct 2020.
There's also something out there called Purple Cloud. It's a Chinese herbal salve used to treat a variety of skin conditions. I don't know anything much about it either, but I'm sure woo enthusiasts do.

That's what I was thinking. I'm pretty sure it's Potassium Permanginate. In the 70's it was used for sores as well like school sores (impetigo) and other yukky wounds
