Children don’t think critically. They think simplistically. You can introduce nuance when they’re a teenager and they are ready to hear it. This is why we tell them “Don’t talk to strangers” and not “Don’t talk to strangers but of course the mail man might be okay and if you’re in a tight situation a stranger might be a good resource for help and also-“Your premise is as dumb as teaching your children to blindly trust all people in power.
Teach kids to think critically instead of in simplistic black and white terms. They need to be able to judge the world, and the people operating in far more complex ways than absolutes. Context matters, situations matter.
