To be fair, you could argue that between the Senate and Electoral College, the gray areas are over represented in government based on population. And while the House of Representatives isn't completely equal either, it is more directly proportional of population.

Not to mention the other two biggest states, Texas and Florida, who tend to vote conservative and VERY conservative would also have disproportionate power. I dont think liberals really want Texas being one of the biggest deciders of the election.

Its also no guarantee that without the EC Trump would have lost. He specifically built his strategy around getting Electoral Votes, like he himself said, if there was no EC he would have campaigned mainly for popular votes in high population areas.
