I run an Arch spinoff called CachyOS for games and any Linux experiments that could break things. It's plenty quick and has the bleeding-edge stuff like Wayland.
Debian for work and stuff that I give half a shit about running reliably. No need for frills here.
Windows 10 when I run into bullshit with work tools or online games.
I have more fun messing around in Arch, but both shiny and stable have their place.

honestly half shiny, half stable.
I'd rather the base system be stable (i.e kernel, sys utils and sys libs) and my desktop environment be shiny.
in the event something goes wrong with my desktop, I'm not afraid to use an old terminal to fix it.
it'd be nice to use both but apart from ubuntu, i can't really think of a distribution that does this.
oh well, back to debian i guess.

I use Arch (with gnome) and EndeavourOS (KDE) both DE use Wayland by default. I plan on moving completely to Arch but I still have some vidya on the Endeavour SSD. I also have a stable version (Fedora) on my Thinkpad.

Or just install Arch and the arch-gaming-meta package and you will have really good gayming experience.

KDE Neon? It's based on Ubuntu LTS and has the latest KDE packages.

I've tried neon but how it manages packages is fuckin stupid. its got two package managers, apt and their shitty one, pkcon.
but get this, if you wanna update your system, you cant "apt get upgrade", they dont like that. you've gotta use pkcon to do it and it takes AN HOUR just to update the system on top of a required reboot which can take between 5-10 minutes to apply it.
fucking windows takes less time with a culminative update.
why they've done it this way i have no clue but it just angers me whenever i needed to update a vm that i ran with it. genuinely moronic.

maybe one day someone will create a spiritual successor to ubuntu without corporate shit but that day seems further and futher away every day that passes.

Linux Mint, A boomer can use it you can never touch the command line and use GUI's or use the terminal and save time if you're a autistic power user. Also fuck Canonical fuck snaps why would I want files for a distro I'm not using included with a download

Stable on servers, somewhat shiny on desktop with btrfs snapshots to rollback easily if something breaks.

If it means running my desktop with Mint for 10+ years, so be it.

I really like how Ubuntu LTS Server runs on my fileserver right now. If Ubuntu gets aggressive in pushing snap packages for everything in newer releases, I will probably switch to some other stable Debian based distribution.

I just use debian with Xfce on my desktop (I don't even load into the DE half the time, if all you need is EMACS, gcc and w3m to see the docs, you don't need a desktop, screen will suffice, byobu if you got balls) for the sole reason that it is stable and is well supported. Pretty much everyone who goes distro hopping settles on a rpm or apt based distro unless they are a masochist.
I have a mix of Debian / TrueNAS / DSM (Synology = bad) on my servers.

I use the intelligent man's Unix-based operating system: Mac OS X 10.4.11

She's plenty shiny for me.
