Oh, so you know, that Rueturs poll you referenced earlier had a D+6 bias and still looked terrible in the cross tabs. Kamla did poorly in the cross tabs among the white working class, which would make winning in the rust belt nearly impossible.

People clearly don't understand how easy it is to lie with polls.

First of all, ignore anything that isn't a poll for a specific state. Anything that's general election samples from the entire country which would only matter if we used popular vote to determine the winner, which we don't. Right now, based on the data we have, the election will come down to how roughly 7 different "swing" states vote. General polls will add in California and New York voters that will cause it to skew Democrat.

Secondly, all polls contain a margin of error. Unless the two candidates are so far apart that there's no longer an overlap, you can just repeat your poll enough times until you get a favorable result. Unless a pollster publishes any and all results, you can't be sure they haven't repeated it until they got the result that they were looking for.

Third, you can bury all kinds of assumptions in the data that most people won't look for. That's what happened in this case, where they adjusted what they were sampling in such a way as to cause a particular outcome. Make enough small tweaks and you can nudge the results more than you might suspect at first.

Fourth, we're still over three months from the election. If the past several weeks haven't made you realize that almost anything can happen, I don't know what to tell you. There are still some people who don't even think Kamala will be the nominee given all of the shit going on behind the scenes. I don't think it's any coincidence that 117 pages of transcripts concerning Biden that the DOJ said didn't exist have been magically found. There's movement behind the scenes and that can radically reshape future polls.
