And Alyssa Mercante made a Kotaku hate-clickbait article (Archive) attacking gamers as "Bigots" and "GamerGate" after that cheap apology from Ubisoft.

I've never seen a death threat towards these people that's an actual death threat. Pretending this is real for a moment, the person just hopes she kills herself. A death threat would be him saying he'd want to kill her himself.

I would never interact with her in any way. However, if someone actually did want to get under her skin, they could just tell her to put down the crack pipe and get some help. (Maybe provide some links to Narcotics Anonymous and local drug treatment clinics.)

This Email is so obviously sent by her to herself because it's just grist for the mill.

just tell her you understand why her dad left

I've heard more credible death threats by 12yo on xbox live before/after telling me they had sexual intercourse with my mother.

We gotta get to the big subject: Giant Bomb still exists.
A user on the giant bomb subreddit wonders, what even is the site anymore?
Context: Giant Bomb's youtube channel recently uploaded some shorts with the current guys talking about their favorite GB moments, to celebrate the 16th anniversary of the site.
This is going to be long, but I would really appreciate people seriously taking the time and engaging with some of the arguments and points I’m going to attempt to make. I know it’s a lot, but the shameless nostalgia grab of GB’s 16th anniversary has really landed the wrong way for me and got me thinking about how this site is a shell of its former self for a few reasons:
  • How in the world do you stop doing Quick Look’s? It was one of the most vital parts of the GB formula. I couldn’t wait to see the group play a new game and offer me actual gameplay footage and their initial impressions regardless of whether or not it was a game in my wheelhouse. I trusted their opinions and takes so much that it helped expand my horizons and find some truly cool shit on a consistent basis. The fact that these are gone is an absolute joke.
  • The Zoom call shit sucks. The thing that made GB special was that you had people with actual chemistry in a room together hanging out. They were the only website that felt authentic. It felt like what we all used to experience with our friends when we were younger. GB somehow captured that magic every day. Other outlets try this, like Kinda Funny for instance, but it always comes off as performative bullshit. GB had a realness to it and now it’s completely gone. I’m so sick of watching 5-6 floating heads all distracted at their desks attempting to have a good time. It just does not work.
  • The broke ass website and podcast feeds. How in the hell is anyone justifying paying for premium with the way things are? What the hell are you actually getting out of that? They can’t even properly update the premium podcast feeds as we have seen people on here consistently complain about with little being done to address it. Also, the website is a joke and just filled with broken links and bullshit ads all over the place. It’s a perfect representation of where things are at with the site. giantbomb.com used to be one of my most visited websites. Now there is basically no reason to go there.
  • Where are the shows centered around gaming? Watching all the Sweet 16 bullshit just reminded me of how much incredibly fun stuff they did on a consistent basis. Metal Gear Scanlon, the Mario Party’s, Ranking of Fighters, Unprofessional Friday’s where they would play like 4 different games, the list goes on and on. What do we have now? The Voicemail Dumptruck? Sorry, but I don’t really give a shit about your takes on random stuff when you aren’t producing gaming content that would make me feel connected to this new group in a significant way. That show worked with Jeff and Ben because I actually cared about them and it was a fun supplement to all the other cool shit GB did. It wasn’t a main event show.
Look, I know the new group is doing the best they can and venture capital is the real enemy here, but I’m sorry, seeing all those old videos just reminded me of how amazing GB was. I miss it a lot. There is simply no substitute for what they had. And I understand that times change and nothing lasts forever, but this is all made worse by the fact that most of the original crew are still out there doing their thing, but scattered to the wind. If Jeff, Vinny, Brad and Alex broke off and started their own new thing together instead of the disparate Patreon’s with absolute no collaboration between them it would have really helped to soften the blow of what GB has morphed into today. Every single time I check out Nextlander or watch Jeff’s show I always end up thinking about how Nextlander could use Jeff’s humor and how Jeff could use other peoples opinions as a launching point. And then I end up trying to check out this new GB to fill that gaming content gap and it’s just got so little to offer.

I really appreciate those of you who took the time to read all that and would be interested to know if there are others who felt the same way.

This didn't work the first time and it sure isn't going to work the second time - he's already got piles of money and is basically retired. There's nothing left to cancel.
don't think that's the goal, they're just using the same tactic to get their name out there. like claiming you were raped by kurt cobain in 1995.
it's simple attentionwhoring now that the newscycle has long moved on.

fuck, it really is gamergate 2....

Ninja is now targeted to be cancelled by Kotaku's Alyssa Mercante and GameSpot's Jessica Cogswell, while they shit on gamers as usual.

That's what I meant.

He isn't "far and away the biggest streamer on the planet" Ninja these days - he's just "a guy who streams and avoids controversy" Ninja, which is why they had to pull out a milquetoast comment from 2018.

It wasn't a big deal to anyone in 2018 so it's orders of magnitudes of not a big deal in 2024.

Alyssa is supposed to be a journalist. You'd think that people being informed and having their own voices would be in line with her goals.
Hyper-ultra-mega-turbo-kek. That is the last thing any journalist wants. Journoscum want to tell you what to think and how to feel. It is a one-way conversation and you are expected to listen, not speak.

Sebastian Ruiz (Frost, creator of Second Wind's series Cold Take) has resigned from Second Wind due to issues with Nick Calandra:

And Cisco Araneta, a digital media strategist/marketer, has announced they are also leaving Second Wind:

Seems like not everyone agreed with Calandra's retarded fucking behavior.
For those that don't follow Second Wind, Cold Take was their second most popular series after Yahtzee's Fully Ramblomatic.

Nick Calandra made a response to Cisco and Frost on the YouTube community page.

I was using this channel as noise fodder, but evidently Nick used the Second Wind discord as a personal army at least back in March. Here is a message from the Second Wind Patreon claiming Nick was one of the top 3 earners. Frost and his Cold Takes show was robably the second most popular show on the channel.

Imagine a mass exodus over one guy, starting anew, finding success, then finding out that one guy really was a problem.
