So, if the Obama thing is to be believed, the plan, as much as there was one, was for Joe to step down and bloodsports behind the scenes to determine the Dem candidate, to be announced at the Convention, if my take is correct.

Yes. Joe was supposed to step down and NOT support anyone until after the convention. This is why we saw "Joe WON'T endorse Kamala" articles and tweets during all the talk of Joe pulling out.

Any person with half of a functioning brain would know that you give your party time to do some REAL polling and put their weight behind the candidate with the best chance of winning. We already had polls showing Kamala wasn't much (if at all) better than Biden against Trump. They wanted to put in a kill shot. Joe SERIOUSLY screwed the pooch, because now they HAVE to run Kamala, and that's going to be a fight. The only question that I have is was it due to his disdain for the party for pushing him out and therefore a calculated fuck you, or was it another genuine failing of his brain.
